atleast u and the other ppl that was with u must be proud :D

Yes, we are! The galactic map updates slower than the local information. Since the war we have been able to retake the outpost we gave the Federation and take over the last large station owned by the Federation. All while helping other factions in other systems take those systems from the Federation. The lack of updates to the maps...has been kind of nice. Whenever the map updates there will be decent sized bubble of independently owned systems around Lugh! Surprise!

This stuff shows up locally, if at all. We have kept the wheels in our little area turning. Not our fault no one pays attention.

lol, I refer you to the 10,000 page thread of Solo/Group advocates behaving badly so people quit the thread and never post again. Its not satire - its passive-aggressive insults.

Really, because you've started so well here;

Asp Explorer is not Solo/Group - he is <Router Fiddling>
and I'm posting this offline. I would more accurately put you as:

<Router Fiddling>

2 accusations (the second AFTER Asp said he plays in Open - quite the passive-aggressive insult) made at 1 person

Hence the reason I think the last Open Vs Solo VS Groups was drowned out by overactive Solo members...

I didn't even have to come up with a reason for it myself.

"overactive" - so, because some people post more than you, gives you the right to be derogatory to them ?

All before this thread hit double figures.

There is a saying about stones and glass houses....

So you can either take it in the way it was meant, with humour, ignore it, or we can all sit here picking apart all posts from both threads (and both sides - no one is innocent) until Robert slaps everyone with a week long holiday from the forums.

Your choice.

In fact he, like myself, just tells why it isn't possible to "encourage" people into open with the given network architecture.
I never told i do it... so didn't he.
And btw., to play solo in open you don't need to mess with your router and you don't have to "block" the P2P connections at all...
No blocklist needed, no double NAT needed.

I would actually like the mods to be more heavy handed on this thread even if it included myself getting sanctioned.

Just spotted this thread. Had I seen it I would have just posted my rant here. :( So far my Open experience has been less than 'stellar'. Only 2 players have been decent. The rest
are just downright rude. Finding a wing is almost impossible since most of my attempts at comms are ignored or brushed off ex .. 'Nice, where'd you get the vulture ?' ... answer .. Google.
It's frustrating and disappointing. I stayed in solo mode, reluctant to even try open mode because I was afraid that many of the RL players would be that way, and sure enough ... I've been
playing in Open mode since Wings made flying as a group practical and get nothing but the brush off. IT almost makes open mode pointless.

In my experience the way I get people to wing up with me is that I chat to people in stations (when they are not flying) and start up conversations and then ask them to wing with me for a CG etc. I find that lots of people have time to chat to you when they are docked at stations.

Sounds reasonable. Is the local chat working for this?
Not that i personally need to know, i'm one of those not responding (whenever i feel like playing open, which i only do if i got an appointment there).

Yes. One of my favourite parts of the game is being docked at a station and I randomly talk about my recent game experiences in local chat. People respond quite often.

Good to know.
Still hoping to go back to open someday.

You can have some fun and strange encounters in Open and thats why I like it. Recently I was playing late at night and got interdicted by a pirate. Instead of issuing demands he started typing the lyrics of Miley Cyrus's Wreaking ball. Through conversation he eventually asked to join the teamspeak server I was using. It turns out there are several russian people that randomly join teamspeak servers and/or games and sing to players. These russian guys sang songs to me on teamspeak I requested (Ziggy would like this - I got them to do Life on Mars).
