Anaconda as an explorer

Do you think this configuration is ok for exploration with safety?

First, you don't really need those lasers, i've been exploring in and out of inhabited space for months and have yet to been interdicted in my anaconda.

Secondly, drop down that power generator to something lighter.

Thirdly, drop that power distributor to something lighter, just go with 1D, you're not gonna be boosting exploring.

Fourthly, get rid of that 7A AFMU, and replace it with a B or A7 fuel scoop.

Then you should be good to go.

May improve the fuel scoop If I have the credits but B and A are crazy expensive at class 7.
Remove heat sink launchers and repair units as you see fit.

Note: At current I drop out of supercruise, disable thrusters and activate repair units. Its safer that way and allows for that 2A powerplant no problems.
I trust myself to be able to dock without problems in a quiet system so no shields but thats also optional :)
For a 4A shield you'd have to up the powerplant tho, probably 3A best bet.

Further edit: B class maintenance units repair slower but have more ammo so better long term for explorers. Less power use too.

I'd take a class 7 Fuel scoop, the best you can afford. A 7C is better than a 6A and costs 1/4 (and probably good enough unless you are trying to get somewhere really quickly).

If you are keeping weapons you need to think about what you are fighting and what you would want to keep. There are the odd PvP people coming into the black so if you are going somewhere popular then some armament may be worth keeping - but I'm not sure what 7 pulses will really do to help. Either drop the weapons and shields, hoping you either won't meet anyone or if you do, they'll be put off from tackling a 'conda, or have a more balanced loadout (the advice to not take kinetic weapons is flawed - ammo isn't an issue if you only fight once or twice). Its about balancing the risk of low armament for better jump range.

Unless you are intending to be aggressive at fuel scooping I doubt you'll need two lots of heat sinks - you only use them to recover from an emergency stop. So one ought to be enough if you are careful (throttle to zero before jumping every time).

You may want to think about a higher power plant, higher classes dissipate heat more quickly, so you can tolerate more, so you can scoop more safely. They are heavier and reduce range, but quicker scooping and jumping probably more than compensates time wise.

Take as many AFMUs as you like, but I don't think you need to worry too much about getting A rated ones. Two are better than one A.

Pondering Exploration

Long range.

I've included a cargo rack because I might find something interesting out there.

Planning on gout at fast and as far as fuel, afm, heats will go and coming back slow with stops.

This is just a pipe dream for now. Still plenty of other stuff to do. Advice welcome :)

I would go for a lower class A grade power plant. It will run cooler, so better for scooping, and be actually light than a 7D. A 5A will do if you switch to 7A fuel scoop, with two class 6 AFMU's and drop at least your small Pulse lasers.

This is my loadout for ultra-long range trips to the rim http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=706,,2-3I8S9Y8S2CD86k,53c0AA0PA0PA0Nc08c5DI0M20nE2UI2jw. Fuel capacity is reduced to 24T to make route finding in the rim easier. I've never found a need for heatsinks. A docking computer takes care of the rusty docking aspect (not that I've ever docked my Conda manually!)

btw, if you are intending to do a lot of scanning or not trying to get somewhere an Asp can't manage then the Asp is probably the better choice. You can get to places almost as fast and you'll save a lot of time & frustration when scanning since the Conda turns like an arthritic cow in SC.

This is my Conda loadout,, if it helps anyone,, not the longest range you can get out of one at 34 ly ,,and here`s the thing that`ll matter to most Cmdrs and their choice of ship / loadout,,,,it works for me ;-)

,,, took it on the BuckyBall A* run,, good solid, roomy, comfortable, dependable, confidence inspiring, (watch that one),, everything was still at 100% until 1 jump before i got to Sadge,, i took a door mirror off there in a close call with a Binary that wanted to get a bit to intimate for my liking,, even then only minor damage though ;-)

,, and so another Conda roams the NS fields,,, Safe travels to you all always

Well it would be a shame to go all that way and back and get blown up by some random npc in the first system back (which one of my wingman nearly had happen to him when he got back from his exploring).

I did make it back though lol

I was pretty damaged module wise and not ready for a fight.
It was my first Exploration out and I did not have much prep when I left. I did not have any self repair and no heat sink throwers.
Heat is what got me mostly.

I cant tell you the feeling when I first saw life when I got back from a 2.6k run out not far but in my ASP and not fully prepped ahh well was just trying for a few ranks.

I stopped to fuel as I normally did and I was interdicted close to the star. Not a good place for a fight.
So a ran like a sumb*tch lol

Got a few boosts in and I was able to jump to a new star. Finally found a small outpost...No repair ...Damn.
Then the next outpost finally had repair.

I cant tell you the feeling of being able to repair all my damage then get back out there finally ready for a fight if one came.
But none did...made it to my home port.

Then took a look at my haul of data...damn what a lot....over 4m worth.
I took screenshots and short movies of my finds so I could go back over it later.
I got 3 ranks from the trip.

Not bad for my first time out.
