Two joysticks - not being recognized as separate

I'm very happy using the mouse for pitch and yaw, and the joystick on the left hand for strafe (vertical and horizontal) and roll (twist).

Just for fun I tried 2 joysticks on Alpha and noticed the system could not tell the difference between the two (they were a T.16000M and a Warthog), i.e. if I set up a joystick axis it would be the same on both joysticks.

Is this true on all games? I've noticed a few people referring to multiple joystick controls, but I've never tried it before, and my first attempt didn't work. Has anyone on any game got such a set-up working?

This is a recognised issue with the alpha, and will (very likely) be corrected in a future build. It's pretty common for games to only recognise one device, but flight sims are usually programmed to recognise as many input devices as you can connect to your machine.

I think that this is something I have just noticed with my Warthog HOTAS setup. The stick and throttle work fine but I find that button 1-19 on the stick and the throttle are treated the same, i.e. Joy 9 is Joy 9 on both. Buttons 20-32 on the throttle are unique however.

Mike has commented in one of Kerrash's streams recently, that the reason rudder pedals don't work with a joystick is because the game can't recognise two input devices, but it is something they will fix.

I hope so. 32 buttons seems so limiting! :)

There is a way of fooling the system to think the two separate joysticks are just one with extra axes, does anyone know how to do this? I'm using TARGET software from Thrustmaster.

Thank for any help!

Meanwhile, here's an alternative

PPJoy is a software I've been using an old software that aggregates multiple joysticks into one.

Currently, I have a Thrustmaster Warthog Joystick+Throttle along with Saitek Combat rudder pedals. PPJoy combines them both into a single one. The sweet thing is that I use the Target Script Editor to map my joystick buttons to the keyboard controls and I use PPJoy to remap all the axis into the virtual PPJoy device.

It is a bit tricky though, since PPJoy is ancient, there is no driver signature for it. You have to disable driver signature verification and integrity checks.

Personally, I have two batch scripts to enable/disable theses things on my desktop. This also means a reboot each time I enable/disable this.

You could just disable it and be done with it, but I feel this security feature serves its purpose and I only disable it to play.

Anyway, hope this helps someone enjoy their toys!

PS. If anyone wants them, I can make my batch scripts available.
