This. I'm always in awe at the change logs with the major updates and how long they are so, I'm super excited to see how ridiculously long the change log is for this bad boy.

I have an old Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick that I use to play the game but recently I was having intermittent closing of the tactile micro switches depressed by the red fire button so I remove one side of the grip handle that has 5 screws in it since they hold one half of the handle together the other side that has a circuit board with the micro switches and another board had the IR transmitter and receiver thing so when your hand grips the handle would block the IR light and the handle would respond by going from limp to stiff. Well anyway sprayed the circuit board with the micro switch tactile switch's with 90 percent isopropyl alcohol and put the darn thing slowly back together and test it with a nifty little joystick tester program and verified all the switches worked including the primary fire button no 1 but after testing realized the button stop working now what the heck is going on so I took the handle apart and discovered a piece of red plastic broke off from a plastic standoff that is cut at a 45 degree angle that is embedded in the red fire button and as a result is now impossible to touch the tactile micro switch I was about to give up and buy a new joystick. But I realized this is doable but risky since the grain size red plastic piece that broke off from the main plastic red fire button is near microscopic I could easily drop it on the floor and that would be the end of me trying to fix the problem of the broken piece. Ok I am going to have to glue that piece of grain sized piece of red plastic back unto the standoff my eyesight is bad in one eye I had a magnifying glass I picked up the small grain sized piece of broken red plastic after applying cement glue to the standoff and then very carefully with it stuck to my pinky position it into place after I played with it and examined it and let the cement have time to dry and place more glue around the base of the plastic standoff where the piece that broke off to reinforce it that is the part of the red button fire button assembly once it dried I reinstalled the plastic red fire button back into the hand two notch area and carefully keeping all the components like circuit board in their proper place including all the other buttons put the darn thing back together and tested again the fire button is working like new but then I notice the twist handle z axis was not working so I take the handle apart and reseat the Roll Z axis potentiometer back into its proper place since it was not seated at all then reinstalled the handle once more with the five screws retested now everything is working perfect so to the very present everything is working as it should.


Yelp I am looking forward to 1.3 power play update for the improvements that the FD developers promised they will fix but I don't have beta access but will watch twitch TV tomorrow by players that will share their Beta testing of 1.3 power play.

I love my FFB2 joystick. Had two modern Sticks and HOTAS before and settled with the MS FFB2 and CH products pro throttle with analog thumbstick for lateral thrusters.

I think I am going to splice the buttons on the base of the MS FFB2 and add cloned buttons on the stick for a thumb and pinky trigger. Should be good.

As far as 1.3 goes. I'm curious but not that excited about the beta since things are grindy enough already without playing Beta that doesn't count. Having said that, I bet I won't last a day without trying the Diamondback lol. Asp is my favourite ship in the game overall with Python second and then cobra. So I'm more than a little curious

With delays of release, slow downloads, and possible server glitches I wouldn't worry about 1.3 till much later on. I did sleep and had wonderful dreams. Might go back to sleep too..
