General / Off-Topic E: D Video YouTube Copyright Violation Notice

I have a video on YouTube called "Docking Computer Follies" where several humorous landing attempts with the dock computer were filmed within E: D.

Link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNOBA2qQ0Ds

I saw a link saying "Copyright notice" on the video and when I followed it I see this:

So what do I do? I can file a dispute, but how do I do it with a minimum of bother? Can I claim that as Frontier has licensed the Strauss music (Well, I'm assuming they have) that this is fair play, or do I just need to delete the vid and just move on?

They have not pulled the vid and it is still active (or was a few moments ago). Has anyone dealt with this in the past?

Cheers.

Personally id dispute it because of the fact its in game music rather than out of game, though others might have better suggestions

The point with classical music is that while the music itself is usually public domain by now (it is in this case), the recordings are not. So, if you have taken a recording of the Blue Danube that is not explicitly license free, your only choice is to remove and/or exchange the music.

#1 gripe with youtube as a content creator. Copywright Bots.

The song (The waltz by Strauss) is in the public domain.
You can do pretty much anything with it. Without restriction.

But if you have a recording of the song that you've downloaded and editted in... well that recording is protected by it's own set of copyright. Not the composition but the recording of it.
You can't use the recording without permission from those that produced the recording.

Normally there's two copyrights involved, one for Strauss (Who's dead) and the recording artists ("Apollo Symphony Orchestra").

If you can find the original recording you used, and can identify who owns the rights to it, you can contest on those grounds.
You can also see if the rights holder will consent to allowing you to use that recording for monetisation.

The problem with clasical music is that there's really only a number of ways it can be played, and the copyright bots lack the humanity/souls to determine different recordings of the same thing - I've been flagged for playing guitar...
Contest it, see where it goes. Be aware that if the contest is refuted by the claimants and you contest again it will contribute to a copyright strike on your channel.

Seek alternatives for music, such as royalty free tracks - or buddy up with content producers and get the rights to use their material.

Doesn't matter that it is in game or out of game. Obviously Strauss is long dead - but if FD own the rights to that particular recording it is copyright violation. There's no grounds for dispute that I can see - unless you are using your own version of Strauss' music - why don't you just find a different recording of it and dub over??

just put on the same music from the selection of music youtube offers.
I'm sure its in their huge list.

Tell these muppets the blue danube was composed in 1866 and has been out of copyright for a long time.

The particular arrangement of notes known as the Blue Danube is out of copyright. Individual recordings of it, including the one by the Apollo Symphony orchestra, are not. And its that particular recording thats the subject of the dispute.

If OP has used his own reocrding, there would be no grounds for a claim, but the one included is still in copyright.

That is why I disabled in game music, I recording a lot of videos, I streaming all from E.D. and in game music is licensed to Frontier but not for public use , so you can not use it for your recordings. Always check what you can use and what you can not use for your own videos. Most games have such information in their end user license agreement . This music in your video is clean copyrighted . There are a lot of free music and good ones on youtube under create button.

RECORDINGS don´t go out of copyright, muppet.

The label which owns the recording owns the rights for this recording.

Someone wants to use the Blue Danube, record an ensemble or license an existing recording, with cash.

Sure they do. All copyright eventually expires.

Takes like 95+ years, but they do indeed expire.

then he needs to wait 80+ years to upload the video with this track.

I´m getting sick of this whole internet ´all music should be free to be used by anyone, because I want it to´ approach

The video was recorded with all in-game music as it occurred during game play. Replacing it with YouTube approved music would not work.

I'll be deleting it. Would rather have no copy than a shoddy reworked politically correct version that made no sense.

I get off work in eight hours and will zap it when I get home. If you want to watch it, better do so soon.

Thanks.

I actually had a copyright bot claim music content on a game video I made that had no sounds other than the airplane's merlin engine and .50cal machine guns. I disputed it and they instantly removed the claim. In my opinion (which I know counts for nothing), a video made with nothing but the in-game soundtrack should be allowed.

So, did the "Apollo Symphony Orchestra" record the version of the song used in the game? If not, they have no claim whatsoever.

I hope this is not FD cracking down on fan created content.
FD was very forceful with fan created websites, I never seen that before with a gaming company.
Sure they issue guidelines (sometimes) but never seen them go after anyone. They even give us asset kits to do stuff with.

BTW you can get youtube to wipe the part that is copyright infringement. Sometimes you find it will only remove a few secs and your vid could still be watchable. I had one that just removed 2 secs and left the rest of the song in place.
I'd try that 1st, it might not be as bad as you think.
