Ships Disappointed in the Diamondback?

Yea, can't wait for the patch that adds corvette and panther. Diamondback and the tiny imperial ship are useless.

I was hoping that I would at least have an alternative to use instead of Asp for exploration, but my dreams were shattered.

However similar some vessels are to each other in profile, they're still less similar than pretty much any two real-world cars.

I like the choice and it'll make things better for people COMING UP for the first time.

Just wondering, am I the only one disappointed in the Diamondback, and perhaps the Courier also?
bla bla...the Clipper (I don't think many people even consider the Dropship due to its low jump range). Considering the Clipper and the Type 7 are pretty much the only two ships u....

There are still patches to come and there are still ships to come and gaps to fill. Everyone is bi*ching and crying 'cos they didn't get what they wanted NOW!

Wait for the next patch maybe corvett or panther will satisfied your needs.

No, I'm disappointed because I know for a fact the corvette or panther isn't going to fill the void. The Corvette and Panther are probably going to be the two most expensive ships in the game. They're not going to fill the void between the Clipper and Python.

I didn't know criticizing FD's decision to make these two ships early game starter ships when there are obvious gaps in the ship progression that needed to be filled is b*tching. You need to calm down.

I expected the Diamondback and Courier to even out the ship progression and it didn't turn out that way, Which is why I created this discussion in the first place.

Nah, the Beluga will be more expensive. Just like the Orca, you'll pay the bling premium on the ship ;)

EDIT: PS: I think people are overreacting. I remember the whole python nerf business where people said it would be terrible, still one of the most popular ships in the game. Wait and see, ill bet you we will see lots of people flying the new ships.

I read that the DB's boost speed is somewhere near 430 m/s, is that correct ? Even so, it'll take some time to get out of mass lock range, and the FdL will have a clear shot during this time...

You just need get something like 2km distance asap, beyond that damage fall off is so great that you have all the time in the world to fly away out of mass-lock range from any ship that is noticably slower than you.

the only thing that really hurts me in the diamondback is the internals, not enough of them, it needs another size 3 (or 4), and the last size 2 divided into two size 1

.

Ok, they won't fill the void with panther and corvett in 1.4, so in patch 1.5 they maybe will. What's the big deal?

You are looking for something to fill the gap between clipper and python? You don't see me crying about a ship that will help me fill the 45M gap between vulture and FDL.

I found the Diamondback to be an excellent combat ship with amazing jump range. Somewhere between a Cobra and a Adder with a agility of an Eagle.

No disappointments here either: ever since I've seen the early concept, I was suspecting that she is small and relatively cheap ship which won't be capable to replace my Asp.

Especially considering that the base price is not that interesting. Well equipped both the FDL and the Clipper are just below 100 million. The Python is at 150 millions. Thats a gap of 50%. Not that much. The gap from a well equipped Python to a well equipped Conda is about 200%.

In my opinion, biggest gap is between ASP/vulture and FDL/python. It's around 40+M and you get there when you are still struggling with credits. Only ship that is filling that gap is Clipper but you need 8 ranks with imperials to get it. What about players that don't play for the imperials? I honestly believed diamondback and/or courier would fill that gap

Diamondback is the ship I was hoping to get out of the Cobra in my early days. Long range Viper was a pretty apt description.
Good maneuverability even with stock thrusters, and nice hardpoint placement. Cobra never did turn well enough for my tastes, even with A thrusters.

Diamondback is a ship class most of us have outgrown. If it does have a price point similar to a Cobra, this would have been my choice between them had it been available.
