President & Veep dead (notice to FD included)?

Looks like the President of the Federation and his Veep could be dead after Starflight 1 went missing in hyperspace (Thargoid attack anyone?).

The Sec of State, Felicia Winters, had declared herself Acting President, so possibly a power struggle will come in the Federation, especially if the Pres turns up and is angry with his naughty Sec of State :D

Now, not sure whether the Federation constitution is based on the RL USA, but in that system, if both Pres and Veep are unable to fulfill their office, the 3rd in line to power is the Speaker of the House. Now, if FD take notice of this and decide that the Federation is effectively using the RL USA in conststutional terms, then Winters has exceeded her authority in declaring herself Acting President. This could also lead to a power struggle in the Federation, which I think would be a good idea for FD to take up, giving the possibility of a 3 way struggle if the Pres does turn up. This way, both the Federation and the Empire would be in constitutional crisis, with the struggle for succession of the ailing Emperor. Also, it could add a third PP power in the Federation making it more in line with the number of Empire powers.

Anyway, I'm Imperial and an Earl, so anything that causes problems in the Federation is all good news to me :cool:

Zachary Hudson is the new president, Felicia Winters is the Shadow President, head of the Crimson Fortune Company.

And their kinda ticked at the sight of imperial clippers in the debris field.

And the Federation is more China, exploitation of the lower class and poverty for labor, and corruption at the highest of government.

Check he GalNet feed dated yesterday - Federal State of Emergency: Winters Declared. States sepcifically that Winters is Sec of State and now Acting President

Power play would beg to differ. Hudson is President and Winters is the new Shadow President. They are both powers you can back in the game.

From comments on that other thread I posted the general feelings is Thargoid attack. Since P & VP doesn't feature as a selectable faction Powerplay almost everyone seems to assume she's dead.

Edit: Yeah there could be a powerplay, just probably not from Halsey :p

Also expect the Emperors death any second now :p

The Alliance is based on the EU.

So according to PP and the main game, looks like the Pres and Veep are dead and we're lining up for Thargoids making an entrance in 1.4 - oh, what fun :D

1.4, who said anything about 1.4? They could appear with Beta next week for all we know!!
I'd love it if they did a closed beta (secret) test and introduced them without telling anyone :p

While their based on what ever real life implementations of politics or "Politics", it's better to look at the Alliance of a group of Independent Democratic States, which can certainly be applied to the 13 Colonies, where as comparisons to the EU which each jurisdiction, each constitution is governed by those individual countries. I mean the alliance if it's a true group of independent democratic states, they should be properly called the Federation because in definition thats what a Federation is.

Edit: Look below honestly I got to personal with this just because I don't like the comparisons of the factions to real life nations and pacts between nations.

then again it's a video game so who cares. The factions are their own factions :D

Edit: Sorry for getting the topic.... well off topic and into political discussion, but I might as well stop now cause I may just be throwing personal views into the mix here and there, and that's not necessary and proper for what's right. I would like to apologize, and state that this is a video game and each faction has their own feel, their own policies, and honestly I don't like the real life comparisons that they make, because they seem like they got them from proper media outlets or movies.
