Woah was doing a big board update when I saw this... I'll hold off a bit because I know you Aucoks love waiting for me to post an update so you can slip in a time and try to make me bust out the ax handle.[...]

Well, there goes my grand plan.

[...] From left to right:
CMDR Takaru Minari
CMDR Kancro Vantas
CMDR F|sh
CMDR Raiko
CMDR Anuranium

Well done! I salute you all!

That was quite a nice surprise to run into. I too salute you! It's not often that you run into two explorers on month-long trips, the Defender of Sagittarius A* and the galaxy's fastest Asp and Orca all in one place. A place 25'899.99 light years from Sol.

And yes, that does mean that the Orcan o' Whoop-Asp has arrived at Sadge. In under 24 hours.

And of course, I also took a few pictures:

The reason we don't have anything to fear in Sagittarius A*: CMDR Anuranium in the Gjallarhorn.

It seems I have grossly overestimated a few things...

1. That I'm no longer a sprightly lad of under 30 that can stay up all night
2. The pithy 19.63 LY range is causing some issues I've not encountered before with route plotting

So that means I may not be arriving at Sadge today (28 May) as expected :(

Also I must revise my opinion on the Diamondback - The Cobra is still better for me. The only thing the Cobra loses out to the Diamondback on is just jump range (only 4 LY or so less fully fitted for combat) and turning rate (yeah Cobra turn rate sucks). Everything else Cobra is better. "Boosts to 430"? pfttt... Cobra boosts to 480.

ps: No Steam keys in my ED Store Accounts page yet :(

Aha! Shameless bump to get the top spot on the next page!

EDIT: Curses! Foiled by the Great Concatenator.

Well well well! Looks like even though we've been moved off the main floor, nice to see some CMDRs still finding their way to us!

First off, a trio of finishers! In the "Outta the way, I gotta race to run" Category, we have CMDR Gorgol, who said yesterday he was gonna head out to Sadge, and he went. The Anaconda Octavius posted an impressive time of 10 hours, 23 minutes and 26 seconds to take third on the Big Board.

Next up, CMDR Takaru Minari in the Orca Thunder Stealer Orcan o' Whoop Ass just barely missed out on beating out another class record holder, uh, Takaru Minari in the Sidewinder Undesided, earning him two spots on the time by class leaderboard. What's next Takaru? Henry Passionfruit and Kyra Inari have already been scooped. I see FoxTwo is taking off in a Vulture. Then there's also a Python and a Diamondback... :p

Finally, in the "Glaring Omission" category we have CMDR DreadedLurgy in the Asp Bessie who completed the run and already had a bumper sticker mailed to him without being given the props deserved for finishing the Run! So congrats DreadedLurgy!

So, star pips and Bumper Stickers to our newest finishers and a salute to CMDR Minari for filling in another blank on the top time by class board.

Meanwhile, on the starting grid, five new contestants! CMDR Glen Ross's Asp The Dove is prepping for launch. In the next dock over is CMDR Erimus, hoping to claim the first ever BBRA* in the soon-to-be-released Diamondback Endeavour. CMDR Trofimov's Anaconda Slight Mechanical Destruction has settled in to make preparations, along with Elessar Galathill's Cobra Golgari. Finally, rounding out the newcomers is CMDR Mangel in the Hauler Reckless Abandon. Welcome aboard everybody! We're glad you made it! Now take a look at the slackers and layabouts above you on the board, some of whom have been there over a month! Don't be like them! Sadge is waiting!

One final note! It was my intention to be on a flight deep into nowhere for a little vacation. Unfortunately, while I was present at the airport at 0400, my aircraft was not and delayed my departure a full day. Guess that's what I get for letting someone else do the flying, huh? Gonna try again tomorrow, bright and early!

If I am successful, it's likely I will be out of communication for a week, possibly two. During this time, definitely no bumper stickers will be mailed - but don't let that stop you from making a run! Go ahead and PM me your times and addresses as usual. When I get back into comms range I'll do my best to get 'em all out.

As for the regular gang, I'd appreciate it if you'd keep doing what you're doing! Helping out the newbies and keeping the board alive. :) I'll post it on the main rules about the delay in bumper sticker delivery and board updates, but if you could soothe the nerves of new pilots jonesing for their sticker I'd appreciate it.

Of course they had to schedule the beta/release of 1.3 now... Did they ask me? Nooooooo... But from what little I've played with it, it's gonna make future races a little more fun. :D

See y'all in a bit!

Taking 1st break, 4k ly in now (they're the hardest right?). All systems aok except that my stop motion screen capture system failed on takeoff so I'm having to operate it manually.

Looking good... 4K in 2.5 hours? :)

If you've never been coreward before, reaching the far side of the Norma Expanse is an experience in itself, you're hit with a wall of a billion stars.. a very impressive sight.

12,000 LY from Sadge and I'm tired....

Really tired.

Man this was a bad idea ..... Next time I have an idea like this, someone shoot me... please..

LOL... keep going commander. There's a galactic stripper pole at Sag-A* and free Lavian Brandy. ;)

or is that just a mirage brought on by fatigue?

LOL the Purple Space Babes are still on the Shotgun Shine and she ain't at Sag A* :D But yeah I think Anuranium has lots of Lavian Brandy :D Just gotta get there first...

Now he tells me!

Hahah I meant bad idea to go in a Combat Vulture. I'm looking at least at another 12 hours before I arrive at Sadge, looking at the rate-per-1000LY....

Enjoy your break EZ, we'll hold down the fort while you're away. See you in a week or two! :)

Wow, no first-time jitters there! Nice job Gorgol!

Under 24 hours... In an Orca. God help us if you ever get an Anaconda! :D

Lol, I hear you, bud! :D

Good luck getting on the flight, and have fun and enjoy

So happy I did the run. Also, so exhausted now. Darn the last few attempts to plot course, cost me so much time. I don't think my computer appreciated me doing that run very much xD

3 times I have raced, and I honestly believe I gave it all in my last one, but here you come in your first run and utterly destroy me. Well done sir, hats off to you :) And also: I was there when you arrived! Tried to hail you amongst the 4 other Asp's and 2 Anaconda's currently present, but you were of course busy getting proper screens from the run ;)

Awww man... I'm not even supposed to be here today!

Fly safe and have a well deserved vacation EZ!

Congrats on the new times DreadedLurgy, Takaru Minari and Gorgol.

Enjoy your holiday ElectricZ.

I'm about 12000LY from Sol. Returning is more brutal than getting to A*.

It is indeed! You start off with horrible route planning for 3-4000 Ly adn when you then think it's all good, you hit the Aucoks and then player-populated space with all the nervous piloting, caring for your precious exploration data!
I'm still on the first leg on the journey home, doing routes 350 Ly at a time, sightseeing neutron stars and black holes. I think a pants change is necessary when i get within 1000Ly of Sol. Or I could chicken out into Solo...

I'll third that!

Scanning as much as possible on the way back was tough going sometimes but the last 2.5klys was pure bucky style jumping with a nervous dash to station in the final run

Break #2 and 10,000ly in. Wow, I don't think I'd quite appreciated the scale of this. Luckily a new episode of Lave radio just dropped so that's keeping me going at the moment. That and the ever looming sight of Cmdr FoxTwo in front of me :)

I've been reading through this thread during my alt tabs while in hyperspace.
Lots of talk about plotting errors, and using different route, different lengths, etc.
I had an exceptionally easy time plotting getting to A*.
Absolute dumb luck brought me to what may be the quickest route.

Navigating out has been a nightmare. I ended up using economical route to get it to plot something. Anything over 3 jumps would just hang for ages.

Now I'm back into easy space, and the darkness of the sky (is it a sky? I'm not sure if thats an atmospheric thing) is quite noticeable from what being inside the core looks like.

*edit. If I come back it will be a one way trip in an Imperial Courier

Haha... well taking a dinner break now, approx 8,000 LY from Sag A*. I may or may not be back after dinner... depends on how zonked I am.

I was expecting you to pass me in the next couple of hours actually, if you're still gaining at the same rate.

Gee if you're not scanning and have nothing much to sell, just go KABOOM and you'll be back in no time :)
