1.3 looking not so great.

Ah the vocal minority...
I, for one, am really pleased with how 1.3 will be turning out.
There are always people who don't like stuff, but that's the minority, really. If there is something to complain about, you will hear it more likely than praise, since if its praise, you rather play the game.
Powerplay, the new Ships and all the improvements to the visuals, gameplay mechanics and additional equipment, except for the prospector limpets, are gorgeous. I am really psyched about playing it when its live to go for some Powerplay goodness.
Good things are happening to Elite: Dangerous. At least, in my humble opinion.

If you are not a beta tester, and not able to test 1.3, how can you say it looks rough? Videos???

Im reserving judgement until it comes out.
All the posts from Beta Cmdrs are subjective and will have their bias wether positive or negative.
Im seeing points I might like, and points I might not in the gameplay.
But until I actually download the update and log in Im going to have to wait and see.
To say "its not looking good" when you havent even played it is pure hyperbole.

I agree, it's not looking so great, it's looking bloody mervelous :-D
LOL! I haven't played it but I have listened to second hand accounts and decided that there are many bugs in a Beta TEST version. 
Are you saying that the world isn't black and white! That there are shades of grey! That people should make up their own mind! That a major change to a system always creates opinions on whether or not that change is good or bad!?!?!

You maybe reading too much into the forum posts OP. A lot of the testers (myself included) welcome powerplay and are largely happy with the patch. Just the way that it has been implemented runs counter to what most would expect it to be. As it is implemented right now, people are encouraged to defect factions frequently to collect the best weapons/shields from each faction. We are also encouraged to cannibalize players in the same faction (to get to the top ranks of the faction). If these issues are addressed then we will have a solid update.
Yes! 1.4 that we know nothing about is certainly looking better!

Let's see...they now have more total revenue from the game than what their mid level projections expected them to have this time...next year! Yeah...I think they are gonna make it another two months or so.
The forum looks bad as players are beginning to interact with Powerplay and give feedback. No system is perfect, and no system can be perfectly designed in isolation. Hence beta and its rough edges and concepts. Remember heat was dropped for a while after forum feedback for a rethink, and that turned out OK.
troll? we will go beyond 1.4 , the game has a 10 year plan , the game is and allays be better than anything else on the market

I know when I'm lying on a hospital gurney and some bloke comes up in a white lab coat, looks me over and says "I'm not really a doctor, but what I think we need to do is...", I tend to lose faith in their opinions.

That is a terrible analogy. It is perfectly reasonable to have an opinion and give constructive criticism on changes based on the patch notes and documented gameplay by the beta testers. I

"You can't have an opinion on that! Try paying the extra costs and spending more time grinding credits first and see how you feel!"
