Will Elite Dangerous have an Intro ?

Im wondering whether the game will have a new Awesome intro.....
Like the Capital Ship video ?

Do I want one....HELL YE !!

Does it need one ?

Not really .. Sure you can produce one to set the tone but once you have seen it you're likely to skip it when you make your 2nd commander (or 3rd, 4th etc if playing in Ironman ;))

The alpha Elite logo zooming at you, then menu is certainly good enough for me as I am more interested in playing the game than watching it.

I think so. After the epic Frontier (and also FFE) intros, I'd be sad if ED doesn't feature one. I think it sets the scene, showcases the tech and makes you even more eager to jump into the game. So you'll skip it after a few watches? That's ok, because by then, it has already done its job. :)

True, but as long as it is skippable that's fine. It would hopefully set the tone and its all about first impressions after all! A minute long intro would be more than long enough.

Pecisk justvposted that he loved the Alpha intro though?

That's exactly why I said that I like current one (they can upgrade it a little bit) which we have for Alpha. That sound at the beginning sets tone for me just right away. Space, void, survival, fight, meeting people...everything is there in those few seconds.

Agreed.

Watching some clown climb into a cockpit, talking to tower, flying off somewhere, getting jumped by god knows what, dying, a lawyer talking to you and opening a will to show you just inherited a ship ... Sounds great, would be nice, ensure it's skippable but not needed imo :)

I once read something in one of the mags that was supposedly the description that David had given them of and intro for Elite II

Whether its true or not only he can Confirm and I cannot remember it all but it described....

A dark station in space and the sun came up from behind and the flare lit up the whole station and as the camera zoomed into the bay doors they opened revealing a brand new Cobra MKIII

This was Pre Frontier I think....I would love to know if David really did have this intro in mind ?

All we have at the moment is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXbjQJvtj2E without the extra titles from me along the top. And it can't be skipped with space either....

Here you go - the main background music loop/theme, with some eye-candy added :)

I love the music they've used for the alpha - very atmospheric. It's interesting to compare it with the theme for Star Citizen:

Very different compositions, but each captures the spirit of its game admirably.

The less crap inbetween clicking the exe and getting into the game the better. An intro would probably be better placed when starting a new game.

I remember that PC Zone or some other UK magazine had a cover disk that contained just the Frontier intro. There was also a review or at least an extended preview of the game in the magazine itself. I must had read that article and watched that demo about 100 times as a school boy. I got the game for Christmas that year.

Does anyone remember which magazine and issue this was in? I have been trying to track it done for years.
