I'm worried about Powerplay's state at launch

After reading the beta forums for the last few days I have to say I'm extremely worried power play will be quite broken/buggy on release and also heavily bias against more casual players and only giving rewards for time spent to the players that play over 80 hours a week and never take a week off to play another game. I say this because the ammount of responses from the devs is appaulingly low. They've responded to one or two points and just one hotly debated thing in the dev update today. They also seem to shoehorning the release for next week even though based on feedback its clear this update needs a lot more testing.

All I have to say is don't rush it out if it has a bunch of game breaking bugs in it. Let the community help iron it out first.

I think most devs are not allowed to post here. But they definitely need more than a week to balance this.

People say this every release and yet FD roll out a perfectly fine update.
You are judging the release on the beta, not necessarily the version that has all the fixes in. When they post the final change log, it will be 2 pages long.

Besides, the devs are busy developing. They can either spend time in the forums or time writing the product. Unlikely both.

Are we allowed to post polls again? I think a poll to postpone PP another week would be a good way to show FDEV that we can wait for a stable release.

The main problem (IMO) isn't the bugs, it's the Powerplay reward system itself. I definitly hope they'll change and make the beta 2 weeks long, fingers crossed for the Newsletter...

It's in Beta. Dev's shouldn't come on here just to placate people. They've not given a release date, we don't know how long any proposed changes will take. Chillax :)

I've had almost no issues so far during Beta in regards to bugs...one of the most stable releases so far.

What you mostly are talking about are design choices and when it comes to that there are only two possible outcomes. Either they will release with what they got or they might decided to postpone some specific feature for later and redesign it. If you at this stage expect them to redesign some major part of the game like PowerPlay before launching it officially...well that's not gonna happen. These things take far longer than that to get done.

Keep in mind that their approach to bug reporting is that we post them here on the forum. We are basically looking at their official bugtracker (with a lot of duplicates probably). Pick any game out there and get access to their bugtracker and you will get nightmares...even for games you have personally played perfectly fine without issues. ;)

According to yesterdays Dev Update they still expect to release it next week, unless something gamebreaking comes up and no, the reward system isn't "game breaking". The game system itself is fine even if some might not agree with specific rewards, but I somewhat expect that these things can be updated serverside anyway without needing a client update. Therefore these things can be balanced "live" more or less based on how we interact (or not) with the system.

One the one hand, you complain you think it will be buggy. So you want the devs to spend more time fixing it.
One the other hand, you complain they're not posting on the forum. So you want the devs to waste time here.
Inconsistent much?

They'll release it when they want to release it, and they'll post to correct misunderstandings when they have time. They won't get into debates on the forums (there is nothing in it for them to do so).

My experience so far with FD is that they have produced a series of timely, effective and very stable updates, patches and fixes going right back to Premium Beta.

They clearly know what they're doing and their track record of updating ED from its earliest public incarnation until today has been excellent.

I have total faith in this development team.

They have done nothing so far to indicate that the continued, smooth development of this game is in any way at risk.

As TInman said - one is design choices and sorry, but they won't gonna change their design just because you are worried. They will tweak details, listen and next iteration will be evaluation of that.

Bugs wise this is most stable release I have seen. Others may have different experience.
