Ships Lakon 7 is useless

Thought I'd get a Lakon 7 to try out some trading, it wasn't 30 minutes before I was interdicted and destroyed, there was no fight and I had no chance to run, I thought a lakon 7 would be able to outlast a single cobra long enough to jump away. I don't see what I could have done differently and I know how often interdictions happen. How can I possibly make a profit with a a ship like that? I'm certain to get interdicted at least once a day, am I just supposed to make more than I expect to lose in insurance?

Post your T7's setup, and we'll critique it and let you know exactly where you went wrong! ;)

I was never killed in mine, not once.

You live (or in your case, die) and learn :D

Unfortunately you are right. The T7 is a death trap waiting to happen. I know this from personal experience. I think I got blown up 3 or 4 times while I was in one. The much better option is to grind out our rank with the empire and purchase a Clipper. Much better trade ship and faster than almost anything that will pull you over. Better shields to boot.

Nothing wrong with T7, must be your setup. Try adding better thrusters and some shield boosters. I also had a couple of beam turrets on top and bottom mount.

Couple of turrets ? You have one class 1 on top and one class 1 at the bottom. Its like you throw flowers at your enemy... they do no real harm to a cobra or greater ship.

The Type-7 is teethless in all ways. Not fast enough to escape, not armed enough to fight, not shielded enough to tank and flee. Its only for a sunny sunday ride in safe waters.

No offence mate, but I think it is your flying that must be useless ;) Against NPC's - Submit,FA OFF, boost and hold upwards thrust, dump chaff, cooldown and jump. I do it in shieldless freighters.

Against cmdrs - Lock another system into the nav computer, submit,FA OFF, boost 'Towards your attacker' (Don't try to run) dump chaff and prey during the cooldown, Jump.

Method against NPC's works 100% of time against wings or solo ships. Method two against humans, you have a good survival rate.

1.3 really needs to fix method 1, we shouldn't be able to have a 100% successful escape method in the game

For Comparisons Sake

Clipper - marginally better shields, more cargo, way faster, comparable jump range
T7 - marginally worse shields, less cargo, slower, marginally better jump range

alternative build (edit: Better build.)

Clipper - way better shields, still a good size cargo capacity, still faster, good jump range
T7 - shields still garbage despite upgrade, horrible cargo capacity, still slow, good jump range

Clipper wins either way.

Type-7 is my main trading ship and every time I got interdicted (even by CMDRs) I just submitted/ignored/boosted away, they never had enough time to take me down.

I run shieldless too, with nothing but chaff.

Also screw the Clipper marshmellow lookin ugly ship

Type-7's design > ALL.

Also:

T7 looks like a brick with engines strapped to it.

<snip>

Clipper still wins.

Why with FA OFF?

Obviously combat is not your thing. I've taken out ships up to Asp in T7 and only run from Clipper, Python and conda. Also with a grade A thruster should be able to run from practically everything.

I agree with most, you should be able to easily escape. However, the T7 must have an A in both the thrusters and distributor, as the latter replenishes your engines quicker, and allows you to re-boost fairly quickly.

Listen to driver 777, he is a genius and a professional. Took his advice after getting murdered and losing ~4 million credits in cargo and rebuy. Haven't died since even to CMDRs.

Must be NPCs... against a CMDR you won't escape. And btw... no need to be rude pal ! You don't know me so there is no need for such statements.
