Aimlessly wandering around in my FdL...

So I've been silly lately. Playing while tired etc. I've been (stupidly) changing between a Python and a FdL a couple of times (Python -> FdL -> Python -> FdL...). Blithely unawares of the 10% cost of doing so each time I switched ships (despite playing since B1... lol).

So I've lost a fairly large chunk of money and when I realised what I'd been doing I ended up on a FdL with only just enough to A rate her with 10 mil to spare.

Now I can't for the life of me seem to make any money. Bounty hunting is fairly poor profit wise at the moment it seems, and assassination missions... well, I've not been able to complete one these last few days despite visiting dozens of USSs.

Meeep <--- how I feel :p

Try bounty hunting at a RES. Given the right kind of spawn, you can easliy do 1m/hr.

The assassins missions are still bugged if you get the "alternate offer" before the "find the guy here" message so don't waste your time on those, if the first line of text isn't something like "did you hear?" then you want to either quit to menu, get to supercruise or shoot the offending ship to stop your mission updating and bugging.

Yeah find a RES that gives you big ships only and grind a few hours to get 10/15 mil more so you can do what you want again :D

Watch out for 1.3, still not 100% but it looks like selling modules will also get that 10% penalty...

A rated FDL and the right RES spawn can easily do 2-3mil/hr, max I've heard is 3.5 to 4mil/hr

If you don't mind the peace and quiet for a while, fit an advanced discovery scanner and a surface scanner. Head out into the void and make some money exploring! I took a month out (I only play about an hour per day), came back and made 8.5 million CR...

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but in my experimentation I've found that money in this game boils down to cargo space, and that's about it (if money is your goal), since trading is the most profitable action due to the reliability of income.

The ~280T of a Python along with its medium pad size seems to be a winner at that price point.

As I mentioned in another thread, I'd really like an ~50M 350T freighter...

All depends on what you enjoy. If you enjoy combat but are aiming for a 600mil combat Anaconda getting that ship by trading will still take months and feel as satisfying as a kick in the face.

I like exploring and combat over trading so I earn money by having fun playing - Best way to win in my opinion but I understand those who want to try and tech rush through trading :D

Err... You own a FDL and a Python and yet you don't know how to make any credits?

So you found these nice shiny ships around the back of a derelict outpost or something?

All I can say is this: If you are have issues maintaining and managing your assets, get rid of some. Liquidate something shiny and put the credits back into you back account.

Exploring is good for the peace and quiet. I'm out on another trip working towards Elite. Another 10 days or so and I should easily get another 25-30m, but am hoping for more.

Wait for the next community goal (trade oriented) and protect the traders from pirate commanders!
Or, with Power Play coming soon, you may even have more opportunities to hunt commanders with a purpose... :)
Also, you definitely should keep your ship and buy another one, outfitting them for different purpose!

I didn't realize there was a 10% penalty for ships. I thought that wasn't coming until 1.3. Not that it affected me, as I've only sold ships once I'm done with their usefulness.

I've come to realise that the Python is just bad ass at both trading and combat, even with a single loadout. I haven't owned an FDL so I can't really compare.

However, if money is your question, T9 is your answer. If you are only interested in combat to make creds, and as others have said, hit a RES and hop in and out until you're getting big ships/bounties.

Good luck!

Hmmm? That's not really what I said. I said I was playing while tired/not thinking and swapping between a Python and a FdL again and again, basically draining my account tremendously. I know how to make money, it just doesn't seem like anything I'm doing feels effective at the moment. It really was just a pointless little post :p

I'm not a huge fan of quitting/starting again and again at RES spots. But I guess I'm going to have to go do it.

The 10% reduced resale cost has always been there, 1.3 will extend it to modules.

Sorry for the tone of my reply.

Still struggling with getting past the Cobra and get a bit miffed, by the I can't afford my 100mil + ship posts.

I do see your point.

Arry.

There must be a time since in the res factor that comes into play. I found a good res. Over the next few days it didnt matter how long I reset the instance I could only get a few large ships.

Then last night it was the motherload. They were spawning in pairs. 2 condas dropship and clipper. I stayed for 90 mins. Used all cells and even had shield go down but I was not leaving that instance. It was just one more but I had to cash in before luck ran out as I seemed to be kill on site with wings attacking me.

5mill cashed with another mill to cash.Guess what. Went back and zip even reseting alot. Have python but want to try fdl. Not selling python to get it though. Vulture can go I thought that was awesome until I got the python. Python not great at pvp as when you get the upper hand they just leave.
