Great ! I assume it's definitely dead to see the update today...

Questions :
1. We recently learnt that modules will have a 10% decrease on selling price. Why don't you give us an option to stock our modules then ?
2. Powers will not be balanced, because of many criteria (like number of players in it, hardcore gamers vs regular vs casual). Once a power will be wiped out, does another power will emerge to replace it ?
3. Why pledging allegiance to a power is decreasing our standing with faction that we are allied with just because 2 powers make a power-war inside the same faction (ex: Zachary vs Winters) ? It seems there is a lacking connection between Powers and Factions...

Thanks

Will we ever be able to join a major or minor faction, so that the entire game treats us the same as any member of that faction? For example, if I am a member of the Empire, anyone attacking me without any Imperial bounty on me, would then lose reputation with the Empire, and my Empire-alignment would be displayed to everyone targetting me in the same place the faction would be shown for an NPC.

Should we expect ED to continue down a path of grind and $ sinks (10% sale reduction, faction decay, limited drones, top tier % faction rewards)...

...or can we enjoy a future of freedom to play the game and not worry about every single detail hanging up our overall game experience?

One more: how much of the furniture do you consider to already be in the metaphorical house that ED is?

How do Frontier Developments propose beta testing to work once reputation decay comes into force? Beta testers will be spending time away from the regular galaxy to hammer new features in the beta one. Their normal CMDRs will suffer.

The current PP mechanic seems to partly supplant with the old "3 powers" mechanic. Is the PP intended to fully supplant the "3 powers" mechanic in the future so that player effectively pledge to an individual "power" and hence a major faction rather than aligning simply with the Empire, Alliance or Federation?

Many people were looking forward to being a part of a Power to work cooperatively with their fellow Power members but it seems that competition within Powers is very much a thing. Do you think there is scope for having varying types of Powers - some where there is a cut-throat attitude between members and getting one over your team-mates is encouraged with regards to the reward structure. But also having other Powers where it is entirely "one for all and all for one" with equal share of rewards? Personally, if there isn't the latter option the whole thing is a complete damp squib for me.

How do you in-vision addressing the problem of the sterile universe? Specifically for giving visual feedback to the state of a system, such as lockdown, boom, civil war, etc. Will we ever see checkpoints in front of stations or groups of NPC's interdicting each other?

Hello David. I have a question for You.......

What minor/major faction must to do....to become a "Power" ?
What conditions must be met ?
What specifically We players need to focus ?

Thank you for your answer :)

Hi David.

Thanks so much to you and the team for creating such a wonderful game. I've enjoyed it a great deal since beta and am excited for the future of the game. And 1.3 contains a huge amount of work that delivers a lot of excellent fixes and changes. Great work.

My question:

Power Play in its current iteration provides no monetary rewards for any activities related to supporting your power and no long term rewards for loyalty (that is, no way for me to progress from "initiate" to "veteran" within my chosen power, along with no recognition via rewards for loyalty). The only rewards come via gated bonuses, where the lowest rank is the only gate that can be achieved without competing with others. Excluding the unique modules, the rewards primarily consist of bonuses to activities that have nothing to do with supporting the power.

This has left me feeling disappointed because I no longer get to play as much as I used to and the current design offers very limited scope for rewards for players in my position. I haven't enough time to earn the higher ranks and the bonus I get from the lower ranks is only useful if I do something other than support my power.

I can only play a few hours per week and I would love it if power play allowed me to progress within my power over time, whilst still allowing those who can play for greater periods of time to still compete with each other for greater rewards.

Is there any plan to review this?

Will it be possible for player supported minor factions to oppose the expansion of powers or even force them out of systems? If so, any advice on how we might go about this?
Many Thanks.

Is this just for questions about Powerplay itself? Or about the whole 1.3 update? Because if it's the latter, I have one:

When you were thinking about ways to improve the game's Crime system, did you ever consider bringing back the old three-tier system from the original Elite, with Clean, Offender, & Fugitive? Because then you could have used Offender for the lesser crimes (like Friendly Fire), and Fugitive for the more serious stuff (like Murder), and tailored the response of the NPCs in the game accordingly, depending on the severity of the crime... not to mention that it would have been a nice nod to the original game!

And, if you did consider doing it this way, what made you decide against it?

I have the same questions:

Offline Rep-Decay, 10% module buy-back cost (without storage or offset by rep/pilot federation rank/major power rank) and the pure competition within PP, are perceived as having a negative impact upon the more casual players of Elite. Is there a discussion about this at FD; is it still being looked at or is it fixed?

Our concerns are this is a direction, that a large amount of mature casual players (myself included), that it will adversely affect that portion of the community who see themselves as long term casual players and supporters and want to be apart of elite for a long time to come.

I would also like to say that the vast majority of 1.3 is great work and although there has been criticism of some of these"minor" issues we love the game your have produced. Thank you so very much for all your effort.

(I am 23 so I'm not "mature", but I am a casual E:D player. I rarely have time to play for more than 2h, and I often stop playing a particular game for several weeks before coming back to it.)

Hi David,

I really like the idea of Powerplay. It will definitely give players a cause to fight for and my friends and I have been waiting for it impatiently since it was announced.

My question is would you consider making Powerplay more direct and immediate? What I mean is will we see more missions about directly attacking other powers and players (rather than grindy missions against npcs) and would you consider making territory switch over happen when conditions have been fulfilled rather than at the end of a week?

Hi David,

With the current PP core mechanic, would you join a power?
If so, regardless of the power pledged to, what would you actually do?
