David Braben Powerplay AMA Part 2

Just the most important question - will there still be community goals once PP is in place?

Can see that many don't necessarily want to jump into powerplay just yet for whatever reason, however these CGs do bring a lot of people together.

Should you guys make changes to the current reward system what would be the difference in scale of a combat pilot operating powerplay with 60 hours one week to a combat pilot operating powerplay with 6 hours that same week? What different incentives will other powers offer you to work for them instead, at that moment you get a pledge offer? How do you plan to balance out who makes the biggest difference and how you reward them within a power?

Hello CMDR Braven,

Once completed the Power Play stage, what's next in Frontier's Agenda for this great game?, beside the expected actual features polishing, are we going to se the (walk inside ships/spacestations) in a mid term?

Have a Nice Day!

I have the same questions:

(I am 23 so I'm not "mature", but I am a casual E:D player. I rarely have time to play for more than 2h, and I often stop playing a particular game for several weeks before coming back to it.)

Mature is a very "fuzzy" term. Are you trying to say you are younger than me!?!?!? :p

Can we expect Wing trade voucher mechanics or shared rewards for power's merits? Some of us want to see more team working opportunities in PP. :)

There is this 10% module sale penalty elephant in the room, it's a huuuge thread and matter of debate on the forum.

What does David Braben think about it?

We used to have some dev diaries and I thought it was a good way for the team to communicate with us. Might we see something like this again? It's been a long time. ;)

How will Powerplay effect the game for those players who choose to remain unaffiliated? and in what ways will they be able to interact with the political landscape that unfolds, without actually pledging to one of the powers?

Currently opting out of Powerplay leaves it as a huge part of the game that has seemingly little effect on unaffiliated players.

As one of the many players who hasn't progressed to the point (made enough money) where participating in Powerplay would be beneficial, and one who doesn't have the spare time that it demands in its current form, I was wondering how Powerplay will interact with the rest of the game?

For example: How does the dynamic political landscape of Powerplay effect the stability of systems for unaffiliated players looking for conflict zones? Should systems undergoing expansion in the world of Powerplay not be teeming with conflict zones to be exploited by lone-wolf bounty hunters looking for combat bonds? Military strikes only appear visible to players belonging to one side or the other. Does this not break the illusion of a "persistent universe"?

I'm not a trader myself, but will the political landscape of Powerplay have an effect on commodity prices for example?

Will system specific missions tie in with PP events? E.g. An independent system might request your assistance in fending off an expansion attempt by one of the powers.

I'm a huge fan of the game! I'm not PP's biggest fan (as you might have gathered), but that's fine. It's not going to be for everyone. I'm just curious as to how it will effect my experience as someone who won't be participating.

Cheers

I know this wasn't answered before but i just have to ask again.

1. What do we need to do so that Alliance gets our own ships and ranks?
2. What is going to be done to solve the open/solo conflict? Are we going to get separate galaxies or at least characters for different modes at some point of E:D lifecycle?

Are these questions going to be largely ignored in favour of ones posted directly in the AMA thread when it gets created, like the last time?

Respect to You Mister David Braben,
Would you develop something similar to Single Player Combat Training mode?
Something like Single Play Skirmish (full access to all ships, equipment and few map, pick-able enemies seen in Star Trek Bridge Commander, Unreal Tournament, Quake), something what we can play offline without internet connection?

Another simple one, when is the powerplay 1.3 update expected to release?

I don't have beta access, and selfishly want to play the new content and see for myself rather than just here people whining about it. I am sure many, many people feel this way.

My Question also

Offline Rep-Decay, 10% module buy-back cost (without storage or offset by rep/pilot federation rank/major power rank) and the pure competition within PP, are perceived as having a negative impact upon the more casual players of Elite. Is there a discussion about this at FD; is it still being looked at or is it fixed?

Our concerns are this is a direction, that a large amount of mature casual players (myself included), that it will adversely affect that portion of the community who see themselves as long term casual players and supporters and want to be apart of elite for a long time to come.

I would also like to say that the vast majority of 1.3 is great work and although there has been criticism of some of these"minor" issues we love the game your have produced. Thank you so very much for all your effort.

Dear Sir,

Scooping cargo from unidentifed signal sources is a large part of the game, especially in the early stages. We've also see a lot of interest in items such as Unknown Artefacts. Plus the new drone technology is getting a lot of positive feedback. Will salvage operations be polished up and given more attention so they fit better in the game? Perhaps through Salvage licenses?

Good job.
