Yes, you can have 3 avatars per account, and from what I understand they can each be playing in a different online/offline mod from each other, but you can only play one at a time.

No... You might be able to get an offline client running, segregated from the internet, but this won't be by design.

With two accounts one can play two chars at the same time (both online, both offline or a mix). Not sure one can do so in the same OS instance though.

Also not sure about the usefulness of playing two ED games simultaneously...

Absolutely there will. It was something that was defined in the KS. I am one of those fellow commanders for SP offline too.

Some kind of player drive mission content would be great! Say you want to destroy some convoy, or protect it, and you can't do it alone. You could post a message on the "BBS", which will have some structure on how to do that i.e. mission description, payment, people required, system target etc. It would be a great way of meeting other players and getting some interaction going.
