[VIDEO] EPIC Asp vs Vulture fight! Z4.MAFIA vs Lucatiel of Mirrah

Greetings CMDRs,

I just had one of my most intense 1v1 battle's to date. Here's my Asp Explorer vs Lucatiel of Mirrah's Vulture.

Shout-out to Lucatiel for flying his Vulture like a pro. This was truly an EPIC fight! And for those wondering, I use a Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X.

Enjoy the video! :D

At 14:43 there is a collision that changes everything because the Vulture's hull goes from 65% to just 1% (your hull goes from 83% to 59%). The Vulture pilot doesn't seem to know how to capitalise on the manoeuvrability of his ship. It should be easy for him to keep out the firing line of an Asp. Was he flying with mouse+keyboard?
.
Also this video shows that PvP in ED is dominated by Shield Cell Banks. When after 14 minutes both of you finally run out of SCBs the fight comes to an end within less than a minute.

Dark Souls 2?

The Asp is actually pretty nippy (as fast or faster than Vulture in speed and doesn't turn more slowly like a Python) and maneuverable, a far cry from how a lot of pilots and NPCs use them.

LOL - 10 minutes in... "under attack"... Thanks, I hadn't noticed :D

I was wondering how he went from 65 to 1 , I must have missed a collision??

Might it have been a different ending if that hadn't happened, his armour seemed more than able to soak up the cannons, but I guess that's the little bit of luck you need, hey? :)

And it was great to watch :)

These are getting really boring now. Sorry, but you seem to equate skill as having more SCBs than the other person. Battles of attrition aren't skillful and are incredibly boring to watch, I really wish they'd limit SCBs to one module per ship. You may as well have just shown the fight after everyone's SCBs had run out because up until that point, everyone watching is fully aware that it's just going to be 10 minutes plus of watching you exhaust cells.

Down to 5 shots on 3 cannons buy the end... if he never crashed into you, you wouldnt have had the ammo to finnish him. This video does highlight the scb issue. In that you are both basicaly invincable untill the cells are all gone.. would be better of yoi can only ise them once your shields are down to get them back quiker so you can wittle them down and damage modules in the interum. And its not basicaly the end of shields in the fight once they have gone down

Must admit, never understood the whole full kinetic thing, I mean the only reason it seems you lasted that long was the shield boosters, had more then him?

I mean I get that full cannon's will use next to nothing in terms of power, and you can have power in shield and engine instead, but why not just two small lasers? or such, they would require a little switching to fill capacitor at times, but you'd take down shields so much faster?

cannons: drop shields, target module, get a close and nice shot, hope for the jackpot (it happens a lot). everything else is mostly fireworks. they do damage shields a bit, but not enough. if shields are up, use them for a bit of extra damage / scary effect if you want but watch your magazine.

your loadout is cool but you definitely need to replace some cannons with thermal to get the shields down, so your other cannons can actually be of any use. didn't you notice you weren't doing barely any damage? you fired almost 600 shots! that's not because of cells, you can't fit that many on a vulture. it's because 90% of them did nothing. it also seems he ran out at about the middle of the fight, and it still cost you ages to get that last ring down.

@lucatiel: get close, reach for his back. you lost this attrition battle because you don't yet know the strengths of your ship. the asp is a indeed a good brawler but not nearly as good as the vulture, it shouldn't be able to see you that much because you should be most of the time on his six or sides, very close and ripping it to pieces.

not really epic, but sure fun as hell, so congrats and heads up to both! :D

What are the strengths of the Vulture that can be exploited in this matchup?

the fact it couldn't lose to an asp unless you had both eyes shut and your fingers in your ears screaming lalalalalala? (almost a joke)

superior firepower, vastly superior mobility, vastly superior shielding vs SCB

However this video clearly shows the asp pilot is superior, as if you can't win in better equipment when can you win? :p

+ wider firing arc.

= skill being equal, the vulture will hit the asp, the asp will not hit the vulture, and that double shield capacity isn't even needed in this matchup.

Ok, I thought there was something particular to it rather than the shield + movement options the Vulture has.

As soon as i read the title to the thread i knew something was amiss. In no space/time setting i can think of, can there ever be an "epic" asp vs vulture battle. Only an epic "how many seconds can this asp stay alive for".

SCB fatigue is real.

I equate skill to beating an enemy ship that has unlimited ammo and constant chaff that's dedicated to combat while flying my Exploring ship. The Vulture has a wider firing arc, superior firepower, maneuverability and shielding than my Asp Explorer and yet I came out on top.
