Getting shot at stations

Hi everyone.

I've been grinding ranks with the empire for Baron, but all the time I've been loosing rep (thou gaining ranks).
What am I doing wrong? The minor factions that I've been doing quests for are now in Civil War state and I cannot fly to other systems controlled by empire because I am hated there.

I have no fines to pay - i'm simply unpopular among the factions that i've been questing for.

How do I get out of this state? I am currently LORD with the empire and need another Naval Ascention mission!!!

//Confidenze

Not an expert in this, but I feel like I've gotten more progress just by moving to a different system. Every time I do, the progression missions start popping up left and right...

yes, I've heard that suggestion before... But it would seem a little more..... honorable..... to keep going in the same minor factions since I've grinded alle my ranks with them. And I don't want to come back later and get blasted because I forgot that I wasn't welcome.
I just want to fix my reputation.
Any ideas??

1) Has it physically gone down whilst you've been questing for them?
2) Have you possibly been taking quests against them (multiple minor factions offer quests at the same starport, its not always the Empire aligned one on the bulletin board)?
3) Are there any missions you failed or abandoned?
4) Have you been mainly doing assassination missions?

Just asking cos your reputation with minor factions shoudn't be dropping. If you were in their bad books to begin with you just need to keep taking missions till they like you again, 1 down arrow requires several up arrows to even it out.
If you've been doing any of 2 or 3 the above applies about needing more positive rep to make up for the negative.
If 4 many assassination missions were bugged (not sure if its still the case or if that was a 1.3 changelog) and gave negative rep for completing. I'd avoid taking these for ranking and reputation until the 1.3 update.

Ideally look for the humanitarian missions where you get no credits since these give you more rep than the others. There's even the big donate mission (something like 4Mil Credits) which is a bigger boost than most other missions (as far as I know) but an expensive and not guaranteed way to get neutral/friendly again.

What ship are you flying? You'll probably need one that can land outposts, as you have a much better chance of being able to land and take on missions.

And I've found that accepting missions from independent factions can often give you access to missions from factions allied with the Empire/Federation.

Just be aware it could take quite a while to get back to being liked (or even Unfriendly).

Yes it has physically gone down whilst doing jobs.... well.... digitally!
It seemed like every time I turned in a job the bar would show a blue arrow up, but then when i returned to turn in the next job my rep would have decreased.
I did many jobs at once, but never assasination jobs. (takes forever to find the right USSs!)
Usually I took the jobs from 3 or 4 different factions, but all imperially Alligned.
Could it be that these factions, although all Imperial factions, work against each other? And therefore I have screwed up my own reputation by doing the jobs?!?

I was flying mainly in the "Lambda-2 Phoenicis" system and went in and out of the system to get whatever mission objectives could not be found inside of it.

I was flying a Cobra all of the time. No problem landing on the outposts.

I really REALLY don't understand why they disapprove of me.
All I did was help them (and me) and now they hate me...
*wipes away tear*

Are you blowing things up to do these jobs.

Make sure you are not blowing things up who belong to one of the factions you are grinding...

PS.
Never accept any illegal Mission unless you can make 100.0% sure you'll not get detected. Reputation loss from getting scanned hauling illegal Cargo still is insane and extremely counterproductive to all your previous efforts.

This might actually have something to do with it... I often get missions to transport Slaves (usually 2 at a time), and I have MANY times been scanned with illegal cargo. I don't kill anyone (besides pirates that interdict me) but I have recieved many fines on a couple of thousand credits (ranging from 5k to 10k).

If getting scanned gets your standing in negative, then that is probably the issue.
I just thought that it was forgotten once you payed the fines? I pay them directly after getting them!

I will maybe start doing trading in stead when i get my Clipper - and probably some conflict zones.
Sick of running missions - and they are NEVER going to get me to donate 4.000.000 cr for a single mission (they must be insane!)

Thank you for letting me know this.
I'll try and stay clear of slaves from now on.

Don't shoot allies, if you want them to stay allies...

Do move systems... sorry but the Imperial ranking isn't based on what one minor faction thinks of you, but what many do.

Somebody said if you get fined esp for smuggling this had a big impact on rep. Heard this months ago and my memory not the greatest. This sounds like your problem.

Stuck in a Loop ..
.
as others have stated already: your problem is .. by doing missions for Multiple Empire Factions within the ONE system .. you are pleasing the minor faction that you are doing the Mission for ... and upsetting the other ones
When doing missions that you get PAID for , it's always best to do them in Systems that have ONLY one Empire minor faction .. and the other factions being independent
When bounty hunting in RES only kill ships that are not Empire faction ... even though the ship has a bounty on it ... you will upset that faction by killing its ship
....
So if you are going to do Paid missions ... Do them for / in a system that only has One Empire faction
IF you are bounty hunting in RES do it in systems that only have One Empire Faction & NEVER fire on that factions ships .. (ignore bounties on that factions ships)
.....
However ... a System that has Multiple Empire Minor factions is AWESOME for fast reputation increases ... but you have to play smart / clever.
The charity / Unpaid / Donation missions , they gain you Reputation with the faction you do them for & also with EVERY other faction in the system..
eg.
Do food donation for Faction "A" ... get reputation increase with Faction "A" and also with faction "B" & "C" & "D"
DO food donation for Faction "B" .. get rep. increase with faction "B" and also with faction "A" & "C" & "D"
Do food donation for Faction "C" get rep with "C" & also with " A,B,D "
etc, etc, etc ,,, works with all DONATION missions .. I use food example coz it's the cheapest /most inexpensive
...
Also consider handing in Bounties & Cartographic Data at systems that have Multiple Empire Minor factions
most of the rep from this will be added to the faction controlling the starport/outpost .. but there is some positive spill over / reputation increase to All other factions in that system
.
.
As has also been said , Once you reach Allied (real/actual) Status with Minor Faction ... MOVE and repeat the process elsewhere.

Thank you for your input. makes very good sense what youre saying.

Althou I have bumped my nose on an even bigger problem.
I have become hostile with the empire.... Not the minor factions, but the EMPIRE! I can't land on any stations any more.

And besides... For me it was never a problem reaching the friendly status... I ked up the missions! :-D

How do you know you have maxed out in a minor faction?
Does it have to do with the influence bar turning from yellow to blue when handing in missions?
