Just got a T9 ... loving it!!

I'm happy to hear the type 9 is fun to fly.

Just bought one.
Wouldn't describe it as fun to fly, it's an unwieldy monster. It's fun to think of all the cargo you are about to sell I suppose and you certainly do feel
like a space hauler captain dude.
Not sure I'll keep it, large pad thing is limiting and I feel sooo sloooow, wondering if I'm actually making much more money than just using an extra
Python with full trading loadout. Have to do some calcs methinks.

I always wanted to make a tungsten T9™, with all cargo space as hull reinforcement, A8 shields and boosters, and lovely turrets.

Is this a crazy dream? Can cows bite?

I don't know about the t9, but bovine are on my "do not tick off" list of animals.
I'd rather pick a fight with a rottweiler than Bessie :)

It is a great ship to fly, you just have to approach it with the mentality that you are in command of 1500+ tons of machine. D7 thrusters is the bare minimum you want on the beast, learn to think ahead & plan for the huge inertia, alternating with FA OFF at the right times also makes a massive difference to the handling.

All in all it is a completely different style of flying, you either love or hate it. I do enjoy seeing the ‘omg this ship sucks!’ post’s on here.. Were they really expecting the largest, heaviest freighter in this sim to handle like an arcade game? :)

The bulk tax still exists as far as I am aware, not just the T9, any big freighter. Pulling in 800,000 to 900,000c per 8 minutes with this config http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=70Y,mpa01Q,2-8SBa9Y8SA06u9s,0DI0Bk0AA08c07207205U05U03w Would never sell this ship, it payed for every other ship I own in game.

@Aquila, you're right, repair costs are rediculous now. Bumping into things is not an issue (for me at least) The issue is with interdictions - The cost of any repairs from an attack is always less than profit you make from having that extra rack. I had hoped reduced repair costs would be a temporary thing, I guess not.

I agree 100%. After grinding the T7 with enough credits to a T9, I parked that sucker at my home system with my other ships. I have the exact same loadout, 532T is AWESOME! One trip nets 1.2 million. Currently at ~75% mastered FA off with her. She made me enough credits to buy my Vulture, ASP, FDL, Clipper, and 2 Anacondas. Must have in any ones fleet.

I loved this ship when I owned one. As a matter of fact I kept mine long after I could afford a Conda. My first mini game was "how fast can I fly through the mail slot"? Lost a few ships to this but oh well, because from this my favorite mini-game was born .Mail slot npc meat grinder. (Key word is npc. I would do everything I could not to hit CMDR's but I loved grinding the NPC's.) Also what 777 driver said. Your state of mind just needs to be different when flying it. It is a big, heavy, lumbering beast like all heavy haulers.

Want a good mini game, fit 2 x 2D/F mining lasers, a 4A refinery, and go mining! Its great fun, very relaxing when you have a few hours to kill. Hit up a pristine ring, and enjoy. Oh, good luck scooping the fragments!!! Took a few tries to grab them. :) enjoy

If you aim carefully you can also take a friend along for a ride on your T9!

Well, I enjoy playing Euro Truck Simulator 2, from time to time, so I don't mind flying a slow ship :D

I did that right before I sold it...lol

Edit: i did 1 mining laser the rest turretted pulse. Largest ship I killed while mining was an NPC Dropship.

Ha ! Rep. But wait until a Conda does that with your T9, as it can, I know mine did. Back trading in the T9 though. Found a good route fit for it and the Conda binds way too much money. I think some time this weekend my yellow Pinata will sail in to Shinrarta Dezhra, finally with Elite trader decals.

It's not my A-spec'd Clipper that I just sold for it, (which is AMAZING) AGAIN. But, it is a blast to fly.... Here is a good lay out: My combat cow: http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=70Y,5...,2-9YBQ9Y8S9Y6u9s,7Xu0Bk0AA08c7hG7hG05U2jw2UI

It's shields are just as strong as a vultures and is fun to fly in a RES.... but, like the Python, your not chasing anything down :)

That load out would be pretty fun miner, once 1.3 comes out and you can get drones. 200T ish, decent shields and an ok jump range...

Finally traded my way up to a T9, but was a bit worried about the reports of it being a pig to fly.

But I'm loving it.

Yeah it's no spritely combat ship, but, for me, it flies really nice. Docking is a breeze - full speed, boost, boost, boost (while lining up using thrusters), through the slot, land. Simples!!

After only a couple of runs, I even ditched the shields and added the extra cargo space. Only clipped a couple of ships so far, so only minor repair costs.

And the credits roll in at a fair rate of knots (currently making about 6M per hour) so I can fund a nice combat ship soon.

Just thought I'd share my views...

hello fellow T9 lover, I hate it , slow like a big truck but easy to fly with it. low jump range, I managed to get only 15 ly without shield full of cargo. But I was doing one trade route which yields in one direction 1.4k per ton, on return it gives 0.9-1.0k per tone. Full circle 14 minutes. So not even close to 6 millions per hour . I would love it if got real 6 millions per hour. With python , much less cargo , it was like 29x tons without shields, same route was taking 9 minutes for full circle , so almost same profit like with T9.

I get where you are coming from, but piloting the Python sucks, IMO.... it has been the worst ship in the game for me...

15 ly range on a laden T9 ? I'd like to see that build. I found it impossible to get it to 14 ly even, 13,8 is as far as it gets.

Be careful with naked yellow space cows in CGs. Some people trade in 'Condas, because we like being able to actually make hyperspace jumps. And some of us sacrifice the And some of us then leave the station very, very fast (well, ok, fast for a Conda) no matter what's in our way...

Don't think you want to try that in 1.3, that's unless you enjoy paying insurance on your conda ;)

Anyway, I must say I have a lot of respect for the guy's I see flying T9's & T7's in open during CG's, I couldn't do it anymore, it feels suicidal. Conda for CG trading, T9 for regular hauling.

One of the few ships I'll probably never sell. Its the only ship so far that I've bought paint for. (its a big bumble bee currently (kind of looks like Caterpillar made it), ... but tonight I may run it in Purple or Red)
.
and I have a Vulture too ... the best of both worlds
.
Have a nice day
