Galnet range transmissions ?

Wouldn't be silly to read Galnet news while you're in the centre of the galaxy near a massive black hole ?

Galnet uses the same magic/technology that you use if you self destruct in the center of the galaxy.

The FD ships communicate by quantum-entangled particle spin detection. Earth-bound 'entangled' particle flips its spin, your reciever's particle flips to counterbalance it instantaneously.

A.K.A. ansible communications.

After all, nobody seems to have a problem with how everyone can chat in wings in real time - despite being in different systems - or even if in the same system, if you're 500ls apart you should be waiting 500 seconds for the transmission to reach you... but you're not.

Ergo if you're cool with that, you're cool with information of any sort being instantaneous. Quantum-entanglement is as good a handwavium as any. Worked in Mass Effect :D

I thought it was just a network of cups and an indeterminably long piece of string.

Its a really really long pole from Sol to Sag A, they simply push on the Sol end which can then tap it out (using morse code) at Sag A

Einstein referred to the aspect of quantum mechanics as 'spooky action at a distance'. It is *somewhat* founded in reality.
