Additional Testing

Someone might have mentioned this before, but I was wondering if there were any plans to offer alpha and beta subscribers the opportunity to test the upcoming expansion content early as well.

If it isn't already in the works, it's a great additional incentive to preorder the beta packages and or expansion package.

It seems that Frontier has not yet communicated about it. However, they said that the DDF forum will exist for the expansions, also. It would seem logical that the current backers of the alpha and the betas, have also the alpha and the betas for the expansions. Perhaps, it would increase the current pre orders? Otherwise give 1-3 £ more when the time comes ?

As Alpha and Beta testers already have the free expansion pass, it would make sense that FD avail themselves of some free testing for the expansions.

Nothing official from FD though (yet).

Personally, I don't think they will charge for alpha access for the expansions in the future if you already payed for it once before. That doesn't feel very consistent in my book. Remember that the people who payed for DDF access will keep on influencing the game pretty much "forever" and that is something no one else can even get access to anymore.

IF we get access to future expansions as Alphas that will probably be free for anyone who ever payed for that level previously, especially since this package already includes free expansions. This makes it possible to pretty much keep the current packages in the store even after the first release. It also makes it possible for FD to keep a similar development schedule in the future. First alpha, first beta, second beta and finally release. This would make sure that future expansions gets the same polish as hopefully the core game will have when it is released.

But this is of course just my thoughts about it. A clear statement about this from FD would be nice. I also think it would help drive the sales of the alpha packages if people was told that this also includes future alpha access to upcoming expansions.

I would be very interested in Alpha access to planetary landings! Having free access to this also, as part of my original pledge would be great too.

Remains to be seen ...IMO all our perks were for ED and nothing more. The DDF being used post release was part of the deal, allowing existing DDF / Alpha into new expansions was not, only giving them for free post release was.

DDF may be asked for input (like for ED) but I think that's it.

And yes that would be consistent with their attitude expressed via the new shop.

I think that for major expansions like planetary landings etc, they will ask for more input to the DDF alpha people and as a reward give them an early version to play with and give their feedback. They may then ask the others (beta) people to play with it a couple of weeks before official release just to make sure that there are no bugs or problems.
