Ships Ok Vulture build v1.2

After a lot of reading and research, and a splash of influence from other V pilots, I'm currently testing this loadout:

[Vulture]
L: 3E/G Pulse Laser
L: 3E/G Pulse Laser
U: 0A Shield Booster
U: 0A Shield Booster
U: 0A Shield Booster
U: 0I Chaff Launcher
BH: 1I Lightweight Alloy
RB: 4A Power Plant
TM: 4C Thrusters
FH: 4A Frame Shift Drive
EC: 3E Life Support
PC: 5A Power Distributor
SS: 4C Sensors
FS: 3C Fuel Tank (Capacity: 8)
5: 5A Shield Generator
2: 2C Frame Shift Drive Interdictor
1: 1E Basic Discovery Scanner
1: 1E Cargo Rack (Capacity: 2)
The 3SB's take a hell of a pounding...

Not the way I would go. This will be fine for PvE but in PvP it would come unstuck (unless you are the god of FA/off).

Don't agree. Done the whole thruster debate and tried the obvious ones, but shields / speed is a debate that will go on forever with these little ships. :D

Personally I'd ditch the chaff launcher for a KWS and A grade the thrusters.
Everything else is spot on.
That's an Anaconda eater.
And it's very similar to my Vulture setup.

5A shield generator and 3 x OA Shield Banks is 627mj of shield strength - nice, that should take a real beating.

I am running a 5A S/G and 2 x OA and 1 OC for 595mj and that seems pretty tough for most ships to get thru.

@jou84, what would you recommend for a Vulture fitout that would be suitable for PvP?

It's good in respect that you don't have to manually turn stuff off mid battle. Priority 5 on FSD and a couple of other bits shuts them down automatically when weapons are drawn. At about 98% power usage in battle and 100% in SC.

Still more work to do though....

Rebel801, I would always go with the best thrusters. It allows you more time on target and reduces their time on target. In my A vulture I run a beam and a cannon with a 5c s/g, this gives 467mj on the shields but it is backed up by another 460mj from the shield cell bank. In my B vulture (more experimental) I run beam and a cannon with a 4b power unit and 4b shield. This gives 360mj with the same shield cell bank. I has a 5d hull reinforcement, but I am not sure if it does any good. It does have 3 chaffs to slow down the gimbal boys.

hoppingdeth, feel free to find me to try out your set up against mine. :)

Thanks for sharing your Vulture setup tips, I am still working on different options right now - I have tried 3G Beam/3G Cannon for a while and it is definitely puts the fun factor in PvE.

Recently gone back to 2 3G Pulse Lasers, which allows me to stay in a good RES longer without the need to re-arm - on the last day of 1.2 I managed 4.9m Cr in less than 2 hours. Kept spawning big ships, sometimes in groups of 2!!. Unfortunately those 100 cannon magazines can empty pretty quickly when things get busy.

I have not tried the 5A thrusters yet (using 5D ATM), I will have to see how they work out while its still free to exchange parts :)

I have found with the Vulture that you are constantly swapping your pips to get the max out of it - you just cannot leave 4 pips in Sys all the time if you need to use your weapons or boost. I actually like this "cockpit workload" as it really keeps you on your toes - cant tell you how many times I have boosted into a battle and opened fire for a few seconds and then oops no lasers, damn no pips in weapons again!!

Kind of frustrating that the powerplant is such a limiting factor on the Vulture, I will probably keep working towards an FDL, which seems to have a lot more flexibilty.

Cheers

Maybe this is already considered; but food for thought and I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks.
- You can give yourself a bit extra room on your power plant by disabling your cargo hold and/or putting your FSD into the last priority spot so it gets disabled when you activate your hard points. Works since you can't go super cruise with your guns out anyways and once they are put away your FSD drive comes back online, with just a very slight delay after pressing your 'deploy hardpoints' button.

I'm sure this practice is common, so I guess I'm really just curious if that is being used with this setup.

More than common with vultures. On my set up I have to disable the cannon and life support to run the shield cell bank!

Very similar spec to my Vulture. And yes, the boosters plus a 5A Sheild Generator means you can take a lot of heat whilst still dishing it out.

The Chaff launcher is what I use and has helped when doing missions for sure.

And those Pulse Laser are just mean... with modules set up right I can blast all day :)

I've been thinking about splitting weapons myself, and it would be interesting to see if i get your shields down sooner than you get mine, with me running 100% thermic. i bet id be close to getting your shields down twice with 100% thermic than you'd get mine down once with 50% 50%.

:D

Well that is fighting talk :) We should set a time and place to see what would happen. Also do you want to try the A or B spec vulture?
