Betas will be much more spectacular and beautiful than Alpha

I bought into this for Premium after spending a similar amount over on Star Citizen and Im totally sure I should have done it the other way round now. I just wish that Frontier would market themselves a little better like SC has in the past. I can see why they maybe want to keep things a bit low-key to start with.
I know ive been pimping this to everyone that'll listen and they all agree this is looking fantastic for the Alpha let alone the Beta.

FD have said it'll happen when they're happy with the Alpha, but the Alpha was bang on schedule so we can hope for February.
IIRC, that's actually supposed to be second round beta, unless something's changed, of course.

It will probably be something like mid-late January at the very earliest.
Im not sure we're close to the end of Alpha... i also wonder when gamma would be in March....
The problem I see is.... IF premium beta comes in Jan, then 2nd Feb
then Gamma March..
Its difficult to see the benefit in the cost of each section over the later.
Is 1 month or a number of weeks, worth the cash to be in that round?
For me the backing was more than just exclusive access but I worry that too quick devalues and upsets people who say pay £200 in the shop now... only for Beta to come out with more content in a weeks time?
So I hope they can show a schedule of the planned timescales loosely...

Very unrealistic in my opinion
Possibly February I'd say So far there's been one main round of alpha (1.0) and the latest build (1.1) was just a few tweaks and 3D implementation. There's going to be quite a few more alphas to go (as so far it's just been a few combat missions, no online play, no docking, no trading, or exploring, interstellar travel etc).
Frontier have deliberately stated that the alpha phase will be finished "when it's finished" and only then will a beta release start. They mentioned rough estimated releases ages ago, but as with any development cycle these things slip as more time is needed to hone the details.
Patience is needed
In Dev diary 9, David talks about the alpha process over the coming months; we've only had the combat module so far. I would guess mid-late Feb for premium beta, March for second beta, and April for Gamma. Even though I'm in the alphas, I am also really looking forward to beta since that is where everything comes together .

I thought that April was when they were planning to unleash the who complete, finished game on us so I am hoping that just an alpha & beta is all that will be needed.
To be honest, we have no idea how long the process will take. We don't know how many Alpha builds there will be or what aspects of the game will be tested. So far things seem to be going quite well.
I suspect that 1.1 had a lot more changes 'under the hood' than most people would have noticed. It does seem to have been seriously optimised allowing lower spec systems to get more out of it.
