Smuggling and Trade rank

From what I remember, one of the changes in 1.3 was meant to be that smuggling would affect your trade rank.
What I don't know is whether we ever got any confirmation on whether that would be retroactive - i.e. whether previous black market activities would bump your trade rank when 1.3 came out.

At the moment, I don't believe that to be the case, based on my stats. My black market profits are more than double my trade profits, yet my rank hasn't budged and I'm only 18% of the way to the next one.
However, it'd be nice to hear other people's opinions - has anyone had their trade rank take a nice upward turn as part of the move to 1.3?

Interesting... What sort of black market "stuff" was it, if you don't mind me asking? I'm wondering if maybe some black market activities count as smuggling and some don't?

Most of my profits came from Operation Dullahan during the war in Lugh - whilst I'd argue it was definitely smuggling in the story sense, from a purely gameplay point of view it probably looked more like pirating (steal military intelligence from other ship, sell to starport)... Maybe it doesn't count for that reason.

Your rank is very high and there are big gaps between the top trade ranks, so the boost might still not be enough to rank up.

Maybe the new progress bars will help you to figure out if your black market profits are included?

Could be! The only reason I'm surprised is that I'm only at 18% through Broker (having been at that rank for a little while in 1.2), and that my black market profits are double my "normal" trading profits - so I'd have thought they should make a pretty significant dent if they were being counted.

It was luxuries from ages ago - about 70 mill worth.
