Patch Notes Update Elite: Dangerous 1.3 - Powerplay Changelog

I played for around an hour in a conflict zone, and upon trying to return to cash in my combat vouchers got disconnected. After several tries I reconnected and docked, only to find that my vouchers were missing. Not pleased with the state of the servers after each major update.

One amusing side effect was a rogue planet, which was a duplicate of the actual planet I was orbiting at the time.

Have a serious issue with this picture.. game suposed to be a sim. Based on actual science.. two earth like worlds that close with oceans. Science has proven that when our moon formed it made our own oceans rise and fall 1000s of feet every orbit untill it was far out enough and what we have today. Two earth like worlds that close the gravity from both planets would rip eachother apart. Im no rocket scientist but I know this is a example of goin back on the type of game that was described to be developed for us

this game is broken I think im done with it. you guys should've added planetary landings and stuff like that. its still the same thing all the time. its like destiny. im all set. plus wings aren't working. I auto docked and its boosted on its own twice towards the base. amongst other things.

Thats right, don't give them a chance to fix it, just leave like a small child might.

Bye.

I hit upgrade box bar go up 90% then slows down box pops up say [ Failed to read from response stream. Network connection closed. ] It be like that for 2 day now. I cannot play.

I don't have to quit I cant even get the launcher to work.

Do we know if the gained weapons can only be re-bought after a 'death' if you are still eligible? It would seem a little crazy if you lost your ship in the service of Aisling but were able to buy back the uber-weapon you gained when serving one of her enemies.

Yes they are currently replaced with insurance.

Michael

There's also something I noted early on when this was briefly discussed in earlier thread:
This will naturally lead many people to do the 'faction hopping' as mentioned earlier. There isn't anything particularily wrong with this - and the penalty of having NPCs hunting you down should balance it out as well. However once people have started on the grind for the 'ultimate setup', it would be unfair to change this behaviour later on - so I feel after it goes live, it would be good if we could replace the 'currently' by 'always'.

Currently insurance covers all the modules, including the faction gear regardless of if you still serve the particular faction. Unless this has changed since the last info I read on this.

I'm guessing the logic behind this is, ED is trying to avoid being overly punishing for your death. I think there was a post somewhere about 'we want players to go out there and take risks', or something along those lines on that subject.. essentially to not be too afraid of getting shot up. If some of the gear could not be reacquired (or would require a godsawful grind to reacquire), it would go against that. The other option would be to somehow force you to discard the previous faction gear, for example refusing your undocking rights until you've 'returned' them for 'refund'. There's probably supporters for both camps.

It's pretty common for games to provide means for gathering 'rare gear' through various means, basically going through different quest scenarios and faction grinds to slowly improve your build. Technically this is similar - except in most games you are not limited to one faction at time at the cost of voiding your reputation in others, but can instead access all 'faction stores' once you've unlocked them. In that perspective the system is already unusually restrictive.

I like hoarding things, so I like the system the way it is now. However I don't have very strong opinion on this, so if you were strictly enforced to only be able to ever use one faction gear - and forced to discard the ones you are not currently supporting - I wouldn't throw a hissy fit over it. This however would probably change after I'd gone through 2-3 factions, and started working on the fourth one.

In any case, balancing different faction rewards VERY evenly would then become paramount. You might end up in situation where all factions would eventually be forced to offer the same exact rewards to avoid giving distinct advantage to one over the other. This might become quite the hot issue for strongly PvP oriented crowd.

Also one thing I don't want to see in ED is a hardcore death penalty. If you were able to keep the faction gear, but lost it on death, that's exactly what it would mean. I don't want 'death penalty' to become so crippling that I feel I have to try and play it fully safe at all times - at the fear of losing perhaps months of work.

Well looks like I'm joining the happy 400 credit bounty crowd, since my turrets tracked a wanted target, and security ship apparently drifted past the line of fire at some point.
The first thing I noticed was:

[DIRECT] [Internal Security Service]: Reinforcements incoming.
[DIRECT] [Internal Security Service]: Reinforcements incoming.
[DIRECT] [Fiddy Spence]: How do you fools make a living?
[DIRECT] [Internal Security Service]: Reinforcements incoming.
[DIRECT] [Internal Security Service]: Reinforcements incoming.
[DIRECT] [Internal Security Service]: Closing to engage.
[DIRECT] [Internal Security Service]: Closing to engage.

The problem is compounded because one of the main properties of turrets is that they can track a target beyond just your frontal arch, and so you can't even SEE if someone cuts across their line of fire - so you could do something to avoid it. Not that you actually could do anything, since they'll keep firing and tracking on their own regardless.

I don't really feel like blowing up a sidewinder just to clear it up, so eh. Guess I'm done bounty hunting for the next week.

Nice pic ! But yes that image is a nonsense scientifically and could never exist in the real universe. I think that is what is known as artistic license (gone bonkers)

Do we have any news on when the list of bugs will be sorted?

So, what happened to RESs?

I visited a few "High Intensity Res. Ex. Sites" and if I was to compare them to pre 1.3 RES I would say they usually ( jumped in and out and reloaded the game inside RES about 10 times) have some 20% number of the ships previous RESs had and only once was I able to find any bigger ships (IC and Pythons, never Anacondas) there.

Basically, "high intensity" RES looks like a poor man's Nav beacon now. A few sidewinders and adders, plus some Cobra with 25K bounty on it if you are lucky. Weren't they supposed to be dangerous places where one could find big rewards etc?

Seems like exploration is out for now, too. Transaction server keeps failing connection on map change far too often for it to work out.

I tried HIRES on BETA-1 TUCANAE a few times. The biggest ship I came across was Imperial Courier a few times, so I'd say my experience of them was similar. That was before a security ship took an arrow into knee and got all hissy at me. After that there would have been plenty of intensity to share there.

As he stated albeit a little unclearly it is a bug. The planet he was orbiting got duplicated. I've had this happen too.

The security ship got angry because he got married? yeah okay, I probably would be angry as well.

I was thinking of a bit different arrow, but now that you mention it there were all sorts of messages about wedding barges and happy couples.. so who knows. Maybe he really was just letting off some steam.

I bought a new rotter and 3 days now your launcher is broke nice game but if you cant deliver it to your customer guess what the customer will not play.

Theres a new Launcher for 1.3 but I wouldn't worry about it 1.3 is a pain in the backside they have made a real mess of the game

Ive had nothing but fun since the launch of PP, part from the disconnect but in A patch this big one would expect a few teething troubles:cool:

Why have Bounty missions that give you a bounty yourself.
This is just stupid
Especially as you now cant pay it off.
Nice system
