Hardware & Technical What controller

I'm getting by nicely with my Saitek FLY 5, it seems to do the job and it's footprint isn't too large for my fairly modest PC desk.

I've been seriously looking at that stick as well. Its supported in the alpha so I think that's the one I will go for when the beta becomes available since I didn't want to fork out £200 for the alpha.

Has there been any mention of Frontier supporting the LCD screen on the X52 Pro?
No.

Well... they did talk about possibly supporting separate monitors for instruments/trade screens and such later on down the line... but not at launch, and not x52pro specific.

Besides, what do you want to see on your 16 by 3 letter grid? I'll be using mine to keep track of key-bindings and modes.

I am looking at getting a new stick and wondered what potential it may have, I have never used one before so if the display is limited it may be of no use, but if it is configurable, I wondered whether the text may display another bit of information that would be useful to a pilot, say docking clearance or something.

Mine, currently set up for Mechwarrior. If you make the labels too long to display, they scroll.
I find the default function quite handy.

Top box is mode and shift, can't change those displays.

Middle box
Top line is the name of the mode (pic shows mode 3).
Second line is the currently pressed button name (pic shows fire button D, mapped to weapon group 4)
Bottom line is the name of the profile currently loaded.

Bottom section of the display is time and date. This area can also be used as a stopwatch

It would be cool if you could get some kind of Google Glass type thing to display that information, rather than have to look down at your throttle.

Agreed!
It's quite usable as-is though. Took me about 30 mins to learn the software and build a profile.
