Excellent Game thank you, who of you agree?

I have played since Beta, I have loved every stage, and every minute. There have been bugs but they get worked out by the hard work of the devs in time.
The game play is awesome, I am just so tired of all the whingeing threads that I would start one on a positive.
Since 1.3 there has been no damage to my game play, I can participate or not and can ignore things I don't like. I have always played open and love the contact. It has been good, bad and ugly but I still enjoy myself. this game is no race. you do not need to grind as so many seem to complain about. just go your own pace and enjoy it. I just don't understand the problem. I understand sending constructive criticism where it is needed but the endless threads of people quiting or complaining because its too hard or is too much work to get the good ships and load outs. I lost a T9 full of pallad without insurance awhile ago and did not blame anyone but myself for my stupidity, no posts complaining about game not being fair, I just got back in my vulture (lucky I had at least this for backup) and rebuilt. I now have a T9 again plus a clipper and Asp. This game rocks and will go far.
I am an 84 as well so have been a gamer for a looong time and have played many games. this one will become legend.
Well thanks for reading and post if you enjoy it too....
cheers,

People forget Elite is barely 6 months old release wise! bugs and problems are frustrating but this is a new type of MMO game mechanics and gameplay wise. I'm really happy I was a bit bored before 1.3 but Powerplay has given the game a new brilliant lease of life. I just want to see more coop missions and content! I like PvP but there's so much scope here for coop stuff that isn't just RES sites or Conflict Zones.

Frontier are doing a good job and it's really starting to feel like Elite or Frontier II with multiplayer. Roll on the next year and more big expansions! lets not forget re balancing too :)

I had my best session of Elite last night helping friends take over a system and then we did some missions together.

Positive feedback is great for everyone who wants to hold hands and sing unicorn songs together but for developers trying to make a game, I think criticism is more helpful.

As long as it's constructive and not incessant irrational whining. That's easy to tune out or put them in a discouraged mood. I remember how happy Sarah the AI dev was when people actually made a positive thread for her instead of the usual whines. Now we have AI that is becoming a challenge for people and reacting better to what the player does.

1 highly constructive thread with helpful suggestions and critiques is miles above 15 "Everything is bad and you should feel bad" threads.

I agree, the game is heading toward excellent with the latest update. A ways to go, but we're going.

I do agree with you, but there are bug forums, feedback forums and a support website for those things :-D I think the majority of complaints are needed and correct however too many people duplicate post or try to make out something that frustrates the few is game breaking and they deserve 10 refunds.

@ O.P. and Steve_Muzz: Totally agree with your guys.
I think many of those who can't get into the game simply have the wrong expectations and/or try to play Elite as any other latest generation "grab and burn through" VideoGame.

Many productions (whether good or bad) tout about being "Open Ended" or "Sandboxes"- while are simply a glorified and expanded "game".

Elite, Frontier, First Encounter and now Elite Dangerous on the other hand are truly THE definition of Open Play.
I think that if more people played Pen and Paper RPG, more people would really REALLY get E: D for what it is/allows us to do.

I've hardly been as happy as when I'm in Elite.

I can't see myself playing much else. And it will only gets worse (better ;) )with the follow up expansions!

Can you change the color of your font please? It's a bit obnoxious trying to read that. :(

Indeed, but it becomes increasing hard to discuss "this sucks" doesn't it?

I think ED has the potential to be excellent and will get there eventually.

As of the moment I would rate it 'decent'.

Because it is a Sandbox game, I think we all fall into the 'Personal' grind. I must get more credits to get the next bigger ship, next gimbeled gun. Every so often I have to slow myself down and remind myself there is no race. Take a week off and go and see the distance sights.

The big worry is, if people get to the end of their personal grind, have all the ships, then what? That's when the shouting starts about the next big thing.

I have been in the ED Galaxy since mid November, and I am still here (which says it all!). Yes, there are problems, but there are far more good points than bad. The fact that FD keep tweaking/adding things means that they care, and that ED is likely to be around for a long time.

Agree. I love the game too and concur with the OP's sentiments. But improvement comes from pointing out and addressing what is wrong rather than applauding what everyone can see is right.

Unicorn... unicorn songs? Are there such songs?

For me it's only space shanties. Aye, me hearties!

Farewell and adieu to you fair Lavian ladies
Farewell and adieu to you ladies of Lave
For we've received orders to jump back to Vega
And so never more shall we see you again

On topic, the game is far from perfect, but what game is perfect in this sphere?

It certainly has its fair share of faults, but it's a complex game and I'm confident it's getting the attention it needs from the developers.

Cheers.

Without being pedantic, I feel that constructive criticism is helpful. Destructive criticism just irritates/depresses people.

Please be pedantic I love it! Pedantry is blessing not a curse and always worthy of rep :)

You're also (in my pedantic opinion) absolutely spot on. Destructive criticism does not help and at best is usually just ignored.

Nice one over dog I totally agree

The issue is that the majority of people criticism is very biased and self serving. They moan that the game is not what THEY want it to be or about issues which effect THEIR priorities. Then if nothing is done they moan about the 'community' not being listened to, when infact it is just a fraction of the community who share their opinion.

As for the OP, I had the game from launch, played a bit, came back a few weeks ago and am really enjoying it.

And your positive posts aren't equally biased and self serving? And you don't lay claim to being the majority of the community in turn? Look at you, you do it right there; "It's just a fraction of the community who share their opinion." So, where's your scientific polling data then? Because surely you've got some to back up that claim?

That's what is making this community toxic; not the criticism, because people aren't going to stop personally feeling the game is flawed just because you all don't want to allow them the right to express that view, but the ghastly insistence that you're better and more constructive people because you have much, much lower standards for your entertainment.

Honestly, virtually none of you have ever worked in the creative arts, have you? Do you think great artists are immune from criticism? Many of us admire Terry Pratchet here, for example; how many of you have done even the basic research to see even he re-wrote his novels based upon public feedback?

Great artists learn. Shallow, immature people don't want to learn, they just want to be able to obsess without being called out upon it. The forums of Elite increasingly seem like the sort of person who wants to wander around the streets clutching a body pillow with their "waifu" on it, and be told they're normal for doing it.. And if people think that's harsh, they need to read some of the "People's Princess" gush here.
