Rage Quit v1.0.0 !!!!!!

I hate Griefers and you must ban them all. the other day I am minding my own business trying to dock, fly, park, mine, trade and I was caught completely by surprise by a Griefer who wanted some of my cargo or he would blow me up. I didn't give it to him so he blew me up!
You should drop demanded cargo or you become a new star as burning wreckage. They warned you.

the whole time, while i was reading your post OP, i was waiting for a "fresh prince of bel-air"-ending.
Or atleast some spaghetti or walking dinosaur.
Now i'm sad and disappoint.
No rep for you *sniff*

I agree. This game is awful and Braden is worst than Hitler.
I keep on playing 18h a day but don't get me wrong it's literally the worst thing ever made by man and every second I spend playing is torture.

Also, thanks OP letting us know you were leaving, I hope everybody who stop playing open a thread here as the community HAS to know.

Some fourth wall raging right there. Readable because it's self mocking, humorous and easy to not take personally. Well done! (btw, genuinely not being sarcastic)

Still disagree with 90% of what you say tho ;)

Such a waste of grinding. At least he should be able to sell me all his remaining credits and ships. Then he really will have completed his wish to quit.

Mockery is often the result of a poverty of wit.
Jene De La Bruyere

Which is amply proved by your poor attempt at writing an entire post attempting to mock others, and then being unable to sustain even that feeble momentum and do anything more than google a quote from someone with a much better grasp of brevity and sarcasm than you could ever possess.

So let us illustrate how to actually do sarcasm; it will not take long to deal with the poverty contained within your exceedingly dull attempt at writing, so let's just deal with you the same way one quickly passes any other beggar upon the streets of high society, with a quick turn up of our noses at the stink from emanating from within.

Firstly, no one actually labels their own post a "Rage Quit". Rather they believe their cause is righteous, and instead would point out why others have let them down; their posts would be titled "You suck and I'm leaving". That you don't understand this speaks volumes about just how little you understand the true art of satire, which is to take the pose of someone else as if it were your own, and then subtly deviate from it to make a point. You have no idea what their position really is, thus you have no point.

That huge swathes of people could get from the title to the second paragraph, the total effort being required so far only being a single sentence, and not already be rolling their eyes heaven-wards, only shows the paucity of quality control from those you profess towards defending; that you have 6 pages now of support only proves another famous quote from H.L. Mencken, one I find rather more amusing to not actually state here.

Still, does it need to be pointed out that no one in reality writes out that they intend to be non-coherent? Apparently to those who can bear no criticism of their beloved digital friends it seems it actually does, so I congratulate you on quite an epic unintentional shooting of ones own sacred cow. What actually happens is the really bad people lack of self awareness, something they have to work at with years of arrogant assumption of talents they don't actually have, most of which consist of shouting very loudly at people that you are oh so talented indeed until they stop correcting them and then they can pretend others actually agree with their own over inflated sense of self worth. If it involves rage so blinding yourself to your own flaws, so you express them in public and are quite, quite unaware that they're stunningly obvious to everyone else...

Rather like this thread, wouldn't you say? Or maybe you wouldn't, as this would require quite high levels of intellectual self awareness.

So we can quickly gloss over the fact that no one actually says "IMHO" any more, and haven't since perhaps the 1990s and the old bulletin boards. Because goodness knows who needs a rapier when you can just wield a cudgel? But that "400 billion stars, all different" line? A master class in forgetting who it is you're supposed to be satirizing; if you're taking the roll of Mr Wrong, actually stating things which clearly are the opposite of true would, to any refined consumer of comedy, actually seem to be a statement that the truth still lies in the opposite of what you are saying. And the fact is all of those 400 Billion systems can indeed easily be summed up on this simple chart, and that this predictability is the very basis of almost all our estimates of universal sizes and distances in real life Astronomy, where "Standard Candles" are considered a certainty. Dare we even mention that if this wasn't also the case, procedural generation wouldn't work, and everyone would have 6,000 gb installations. Where did I get that figure from? You will never know, and that's one of the funniest jokes you've illustrated today, although quite unintentionally. Mr Wrong indeed.

I will tell you that it wasn't Star Trek. There actually were other civilizations out there to talk too in Star Trek. In Elite, there isn't. But you can put something making a random rattle out there and hundreds of people will become convinced they've just discovered everything from Thargoids to the planet of the Space Vixens. And there still won't be anything out there in Elite.

Yes, it's a sucking vacuum of empty space out there, rather like the level of thought behind this "humour", drowning the poor swimmers in your stream of conscious attempts to hit absolutely anything, and have someone else draw a bullseye around it and compliment you on your sharp shooting, whilst the punchline actually arrives off stage shortly after you leave it; lots of mixed metaphors there, but notice they remain internally consistent to themselves; unlike say a literary style that has two deliberately contrasting values, but can't think deeper than the simple words themselves. "People have big ships!" "They wanted small ships!" Yes, and...? Big and small are different sizes, but does that mean they are contrasting desires? By that logic when someone is driving a car, can they only turn left, or right, but not left and right because there's no such thing as an overall destination if you do?

No, the punch line is that when the moderators of a forum clearly tolerate such inept and deliberately community insulting posts, unsurprisingly they don't tend to have a community for long. Certainly not at a time when months of gameplay is being wiped out by the exploration bug, Naval rank missions don't work, and even those who like Powerplay have to appeal for the results of their gameplay to be hand-coded in. Oops, I mean "LOL, I R TEH WIN BUTTON", which just because you said it, and are encouraged in posting it, must be the true problems others have.

So let the biased moderating begin; let the reporting of actually intelligent posts resume, all in the name of inclusiveness and increasing the standards of the forums; let's not bother about silly little things like actually being likeable or even, god forbid, even making any basic sense... let's make a wasteland and call it a perfect game! And everyone else will just wrinkle their noses, think "Ugh, we can still smell you", and walk off to more refined pastures.

Do you have any doubt now that I hold this post in contempt? No? Good, because THAT is how you do satire and sarcasm, with a very sharp point indeed. Try and learn at least that, if you intend to delude yourself into thinking you can try black comedy again.

The other ONLY thing you're missing is "I really love this game, I really do but <wall of hate rage>"

@Titler - but his wall of text was funny....

LOL!!

Excellent stuff....

But people seem to forget that some people have legitimate cause for complaint. How many times have FD broken their promises? How many times have they done stuff they said they wouldn't? And some people have paid £1000's and had their loyalty thrown back at them and had promise after promise broken... Has the DDF been completely abandoned? Can anyone let us know? Has the dream that people were sold, gone down the river, broken and forgotten?

Yes, kick starter has ended and those that donated help fund the start of the project, have to remember that is has ended, gone, finished, and of course, FD continue to need funding to further develop the game. Like any other company would.

And the thing that is worrying people, is that we still do not have completed basic game that was equal to the 1994 release, that I brought for the Amiga 500 on the day of it's release. Really? Yes, Really. Do have the ability to transport passengers yet? No we don't, but frontier did.

Yes, there are many whiny little children on the forum killing teddies at an alarming rate, but some are do have legitimate reasons for complaint. So I would be very care tarnishing everyone with the same brush.

It is such a grind, I mean 400 billion stars, all different, thousands of civilised systems, a fluctuating commodity market, a constantly changing political scene....Yawn
One bar goes up and one goes down. Yes. Excitement known no bounds

Exploring...Boring. Cant think of anything more dull than the potential to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before. That will never catch on.
New life and civilizations? Really? There is hardly any of that in the populated systems. AFAIK what you do when you explore is scan systems, take screenshots to show off and then eventually fly back to sell the information.

The game isn't exciting at all. No surprises and everything is predictable.
Well. It is. Everything you do is in a small playpen with a set scenario you quickly learn to recognize. There is rarely anything that comes as a surprise once you lean them.
