Python Trader Build

Hi all, just got back from a 2 month exploration trip and now have a nice chunk of money in the bank to purchase my first larger ship. Am looking to take a long break from exploration at the moment, although I will keep my exploration ASP parked up just in-case the mood takes me again. I'm currently sitting on 71 million credits in the bank and looking to get a Python to focus on trading again. Won't really be looking to do any combat at all but with the new AI being a bit harsher and PVP always a threat I definitely want to run enough weaponry to protect my cargo.

Currently looking at this build: http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=705,7u57u54yH7u57u50Wg0mI,2-8SA07_6u8SA08I,0AA0AA0AA08c08c0727Q44zM03w

276T cargo space, 3A fuel scoop so I don't have to bother docking to refuel until I reach the end of the line. Total cost is 66,931,755 which includes insurance. That would leave me about 4 million in the bank for my first cargo run.

Anybody have any better suggestions on this build in the same price bracket? Big thanks for any input!

Fine for the price range, consider chaff rather than point defence (or take both) Heat sink is only needed if you are planning on smuggling.

Apart from the weapons loadout I think I used pretty much the same build when I used a Python for trading.
You could change the power plant to a 4A though for more jump range. Or even a 3A if you dump the weapons.

Do not underestimate the better AI. After 1.3, those NPC pirates are sometimes (not always) a pain in the ...
My actual configuration of trading Python is:

and even in this configutation, I had one serious incident with NPC pirate in Imperial Clipper. I killed him, but I was without shields and with severely damaged hull.

I got my first Python last night for the same reason. I made a trading build on Coriolis shipyard. I haven't tried it on a run yet, still fiddling about with the set up. I'm not sure on the Powerplant, Thrusters and Distributor choices at the moment as I could save weight there, but at the same time I want good boost capability and shield recharge to run from interdictors.

I would suggest you go to Li Yong-Rui controlled High Tech systems though to get your ship and parts because you get 15% off. I was able to get my Python set up like that for around the normal list price of 56-7 million.

Magic, thanks for the input guys. Will make a slight adjustment. Also thanks also B33 ENN for the tip on Li Yong-Rui, wasnt aware there was a discount there :)

Yes, definitely. This 15% discount is a LOT at the Python price level. You can have discount approx. 10MCr for the whole kit.

The systems I used were the HQ at Lembava (Goldstein Port), or also Diaguandri (Ray Gateway) because you don't get all the module kit at Lembava.

One more note.

When you will buy lasers (and you want to buy lasers, because NPC pirates now use the shield cells), you really should buy at least one (better two) turreted lasers. Turrets are now working fine and you will need them, because after the 1.3 patch, you are not able to out-maneuvre the AI Sidewinders and Eagles in Python. Maybe those harmless ships, but definitely not Masters etc. They are smart now...
