Powerplay is excellent

Finally got my head around PP yesterday and the way it fits into the game and the variety of decision paths and wealth of strategic options available for both individual and collective action really adds depth to ED.

That it also provides increased game play for those that don't want to pledge and quite good indicators of PvP hotspots to either go to or avoid is clever too.

Excellent work Michael and team, excellent work. Really looking forward to seeing (and being part of) how the struggles develop over the coming cycles.

R+ for you OP. I'm enjoying power play as well. It adds several new play options to the game and it will be interesting to see how each power waxes or wanes as time goes by. I find the benefits and consequences of joining the various powers enjoyable... they add excitement to the game in ways I didn't entirely expect. For example, my trade runs in certain areas of space are much more exciting as the frequency of interdictions has risen considerably when I fly through areas controlled by powers I'm not aligned with. There are also many more trade options available to me as a result of the effects different powers have in areas they control. I know that participating in power play will become part of my regular play style.

Yes, while some things might still need some tweaks (will show after a few cycles), i really love PP. It has added depth to the game. Also, as a casual player who hasn´t much time for gaming, it is fairly easy to earn 1500 merits and make it to rank 4. Getting 5mill per cycle and increased bounty payout in RES in controlled systems (killed a few 380k and even one 430k conda) is also great. So how is PP not rewarding?
Thanks FD, keep up the good work.

I also think that PowerPlay, despite some of the issues it has, brought some really nice aspects to the game. Especially because you now can satisfy the needs of two different player types:
- pirates and bad boys leave me alone, I just want to do some calm trading/mining/missions (stay away from powerplay)
- I want to do trading/mining/missions, but like beeing interdicted more frequently (join a faction)

So basically you can choose the level of danger you like to have in this universe

A couple of other things that 1.3 has added to the game is now smuggling is more profitable and fun and bounty hunting is better or so I am told. My nephew plays Elite and he signed up with one power and then defected to Mahon, and when his former power sent assassins after him he would fight them and collect bounties on them..he was bounty hunting without all that pesky hunting LOLOL He also says smuggling is loads of fun now. The improved A.I. (thanks Sarah!) makes pretty much every aspect of the game better as well, no matter if you play open or solo
