plotting routes that won't work

i have been exploring and now i would like to get back to some inhabited systems, BUT i can not plot any routes over 100 LY i have the diamondback explorer and it is full upgraded, and it has a fuel scoop so why can't i plot any courses, i need to go about 1800 LY to get to Lembava system to hand my data in but at the rate it is going i will take me 5 weeks to get back i am getting frustrated, even when on the map the plot course symbol is white it still tells me i can't plot the course ---- is this a bug if it is it need sorting out very soon if not is there any thing or website that i can use to help me get to where i want to go ---- i just can't understand why i can't plot any course and then its upto me to decide if i can make it to the end or not

wow this just gets better the ****ing thing now tells me i can't plot courses over 50LY you have to be ting me since the last 2 updates this game has turned into a crock of

I had some trouble with this yesteday also in a diamond back explorer with jump range of about 32ly.

In the end I had to pick somewhere about 700ly away and plot to that. I think ostensibly the range is 1000ly. Obviously it will vary a lot depending on what stars are available - if you are near the rim then the stars are further apart and routes are harder to find.

Obviously the route planner's ability to get you somewhere depends on the star density in that direction, and whether's there's a route through it directly. Some routes, for example, might involve backtracking to an extent, and the route planner cannot cope with every eventuality that doesn't move you "forward". Just manually move to the side a few tens of Ly and try again, or plot through manually if you're in a low density area.

I Can't plot courses forwards backwards or left and right i can't plot anywhere i would love to plot somewhere in that is 700LY away but i can't even plot 10 LY now and i have not even bloody moved

I had issues the other day, but when i actually looked more closely i'd managed to wander down some remote cul-de-sac near the top of the galaxy, manually backtracked a couple of system and leapt across to another arm and it was fine again.
HTH.

Double check you have fuel, double check that all your systems are powered up. Probably wise to fly to current system's star and re-scoop up to full capacity just incase

Fuel is full as i fuel scoop at every jump star permitting and systems on and all powered up i don't turn my systems off

Rather than trying to plot a route just select manually a star that is within range in the right direction (Ish) If you can selet directly you should eventually be able to plot a long route.

The route planner is broken, just try to get closer to your destination, eventually you will be able to plot a course.
It's also single threaded (within the main game thread even!) and wastes a lot of cpu time "optimizing" the route for fuel consumption.

OK so let me get this straight the nav computer can not work out that if you plot a course it does not know if it's a dead end or not and it can not work out that to get you where you want to, and that it may need to go back the way it can hmmmm well it looks like ill be lost for a long while then l,as each time i go back and go somewhere else it still tells me once i get there that i can't go on wards to my next plot course so whats the point of a nav computer that can't find it's way bloody stupid and something that needs looking at fast

I am trying to do that now and i get can not plot course all the time no matter where i go

Is it actually possible to get to where you want to be with the jump range your ship currently has?

Plotting a new route every 50 ly or even every jump doesn't take as long as jumping. Perhaps you just need to plot manually until you are at a point the nav comp can take over?

That may be why. If the route plotted is calculating jump range assuming linear fuel use, maybe, it could screw things up when you scoop?

Point at a star, enter SC and just wait 40 years. Job done.

Unfortunately that wouldn't work as the engine is not designed to insert you into an instance when you get there without doing it through the Hyperspace or SC mechanics.

@Datum010 - rather than it ing you off, why not calmly and politely raise a bug with screen shots to FD? It may get sorted quicker that way.

if he has a maxed out explorer and is just 1700 LY from inhabitated space, I'd be surprised if the route planner really ran into that problem.

I never, ever encountered that problem in my 40 LY jumping Anaconda.
