Bug or Intended?

If you travel to an opposing powers control system to do some undermining for 15 merits per ship, you can actually pull ANY opposing powers ships out of SC, kill them and receive 15 merits.
Ive been murdering Kumo Crew by the hundreds (in He Xiang etc), then accidentally found out I could destroy winters vessels, Edmunds vessels etc etc in this system and get merits for every one.
I don't think this should be the case as the enemy of my enemy should be my friend (at least when in an enemies territory).

However, if someone of an opposing power pulls you out of SC and you kill them, you get 0 merits...

wrong lol, I have been pulled out of SC by hudsons ships (while in archons control system) killed them and received the merits and a bounty on my head as per usual. As long as a ship has the "special" name of an opposing powers party (e.g. kumo crew courier, torvals shield etc etc) and you are in an opposing powers control system you will get the merits.

I've been jumped on 8 separate occasions last night, all of opposing powers and I killed them all. No merits received for any of them (and none to collect at that systems' station).

guess ive got lucky with a bug then :-D only ships it hasn't worked with so far is denton's, I killed 3 in 1 go (wing of 3) and it only gave me 15 merits, apart from that its giving me full merits every time.

Its like the capture for the merits to be awarded is:
1) player is in any opposing factions control system
2) player destroys any enemy power "named" ship (e.g. kumo crew watch) that does not belong to the players power
3) give merits.

this is wrong, it should check that the ship you destroyed belongs to the power that owns the system.

This has been the same for me, Get pulled out... Turn and boil them... Get 200 Cr and no merits.

Loss of Cr and time, but I do enjoy turning the tables on them.

I bugreported this a little while back. Also just assumed this was known, and nobody wanted to talk about the war...

Were you in an enemy power system, or friendly territory? If you weren't in enemy territory, you wouldn't have got anything.

Regardless of where you are, you should get merits for killing ships of an opposing power. After all, that makes your power stronger and theirs weaker, thus helping your power.

well this bug im talking about you literally have to be in one of an opposing powers control systems, don't think it would work anywhere else.
And I disagree, if an aisling ship and a Hudson ship are both in archons control system, what do either benefit by attacking each other? nothing, thay are actually helping archon by doing this, but its still awarding merits....

Indeed - killing enemy ships in your Control systems should either increase its fortification or reduce the undermining level.

It shouldn't be worth 15 merits though - if people could earn at that rate without incurring bounties in the process, they'd never leave their Control systems.

SSSSSSSSsssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!

I found this out last night. For some reason Mahon's ships mainly spawn in singles for me, with other Alliance groups being in wings. So get a wing of 3 and BOOM - 45 credits!

This is obviously NOT a bug and nothing to see here.

Repeat after me. NOT a bug. As intended!!!! Move along developers, move along.:D

............and yes.
If I take out an ENEMY ship in a control system of mine I think there SHOULD be credits. It's like playing the role of the police.
