Credits - Am I doing it wrong?

Am curious as to how he's earning 12 mill an hour. On my best route in the T9 hauling 532T, I was pulling in 8 mill an hour. Haven't played in a few months, is 12 mill normal now for heavy freight in 1.3?

The missions you can pick up on the BB can give your trade runs a good boost but some of them require you to already be Elite or Tycoon to sign up. They also aren't very consistent. I think I made close to 1M cr one way on a decent (2100cr/t) but not mindblowing route from the 2 illegal smuggling missions I picked up to deliver narcotics and battle weapons to the other station. Smuggling in an Anaconda or T9 is kind of funny, but money is money right?

Next run the board had nothing so it was back to normal earnings. No idea how they are doing 12M/h unless it's wing beacon teleporting or the stacked PP bonuses.

I've got to say that 6m-12m per hour is crazy sums for me, it's what dreams are made of Commander, you should be proud of that wedge earning power. Just rememeber, once you get the Anaconda things aren't going to rapidly change for you. Whilst it's a mighty ship it's not going to be any more fun than any other ship, in fact I'm still playing in the Vulture and Cobra at the moment despite having the assets to buy a Python.

To make things feel a little less chorey it might be worth taking your eyes off the Anaconda prize, swapping to something a bit more fun to fly and just going where the wind takes you. My best experiences in the game have been from doing that. Checking out random combat zones, chatting to other players, mixing it up a bit etc...

I'm not the guy you're replying to but he's right on pretty much everything he said.
You didn't provide a real counter argument with that post. It's like putting your fingers in your ears and going "LALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU LALALA!"
Please, explain why he's wrong and you're right.

because

because I'm 40 with a family but congrats, you're earning tonnes of credits and I admire you" other than "YOU SHOULDN'T PLAY LIKE THAT HUR DUR THE GAEM IS SUPPOSED TO BE PLAEID 4 YEARS!!!!!111!!" It's ing pathetic.s.

Does not make me want to argue with him. Incidentially I am also 40 and have family and a 40 hrs + per week job.
Its easy to show that Elite is meant to be a long term game - hence why planned development is 10+ years. The Anaconda will be one of the most expensive things to buy for quite a while yet. As Elite is mostly about making money to buy new shiny stuff AND is meant as a long term game it makes no sense whatsoever to give it to you so quickly and easily.
There are tons of games around which focus on a playtime of a couple of hours - this one is not.

Also he seems to assume that I want top spoil other players fun - I don't but I want to preserve my long term motivation bc I really waited for a game like this - since 1984 to be exact ...

Hrmm, I've only got 40mil in the bank and 90mil tied up in a t-9. Still not quite enough :/

Yeah I would shoot for the 180m area to switch over, with type 9 trade in. Don't forget to downgrade and sell off modules in the type 9 if you do though.

Oh, I'v spent most of my time in combat. I've had Vultures and FDL's, and a couple Pythons. I just want the 'Conda and I am antsy like a 5yr old Christmas eve :p

Bit confused by this thread, you're making THAT amount of creds per hour but still annoyed it's going to take you a week or two's worth of playtime to spec out the biggest ship in the game with the best class modules that are on offer? Anaconda is pretty much end-game level ship at this point. If it puts any perspective on it for you I just got back from two MONTHS of exploring and earned about 70 million which I was utterly thrilled about. Something that you could technically do in 2 days at your current earning capacity...

Read the thread dude, I've explained myself a couple times now.

I don't see why you're all ripping into the poor guy, you all talk about how the old elite did this and how the new elite does that and how we shouldn't be allowed to earn s tonnes of money, and blah blah blah, if this were real life and I earnt stupid amounts an hour to get something I wanted within a week, would you tell me I need to stop earning so much? its his choice to "ruin the game" for himself in your opinions, I don't see why you can't just say "Oh wow, thats amazing well done, however I don't see myself progressing like that because I'm 40 with a family but congrats, you're earning tonnes of credits and I admire you" other than "YOU SHOULDN'T PLAY LIKE THAT HUR DUR THE GAEM IS SUPPOSED TO BE PLAEID 4 YEARS!!!!!111!!" OP, I'm absolutely amazed at the route you're doing, and I'm hoping to get and asp soon after my type 6, might even get an explorer and mess with that a little in between. Do share your secrets.

Here's the thing: if someone would make 6 million/hr IRL they would be in a position to really entertain themselves for decades to come. In ED, many people who grind for long times towards some 'end' goal find their destination is not as entertaining as they thought it would be. So people recommend making the road enjoyable, for ultimately in a game like ED there is nothing 'special' to do once you reach the 'end' of your road.

And like with a 5 year old the anticipation might be the best part of it - hence my focus in letting you 'work' for your money ....

I mostly started this thread because I wasn't sure if I was earning the amount of credits I should be considering the ship I am using. I am not too terribly bothered if this is as fast as it gets. But yeah, 'Conda is spensive... :p

I think it is impossible to answer as it depends on your playstyle. If you try to find your own routes, keep your ship with some weapons and shielding, manually leave the station etc you'll be much slower than someone using 3rd party apps for the routes, flying shieldless and logging when under attack, re-logging to leave station or even beacon trading. Most people are not able to handle the mind-numbing grind of 'min-max' traders, so I dont think most of us should compare ourselves with these people.

You don't think that the guy probably already realizes how soul crushing trading is, and its probably made him think about what he's doing and is it worth it and quite frankly probably realized the only thing in the game that gives anyone a sense of achievement money wise is trading, the aim of the game is to "blaze your own trial" and so far all I've seen is people that don't have much time to play it complain to others about how they're going to ruin their own fun. all I'm trying to say is that he didn't ask you to tell him to slow down and complain to him about how you keep down a job, a family and a midlife crisis, he asked you what to do to increase his trade revenue per hour.

Actually, he asked how his income compared with other people, and that is a slightly different question, which depends a lot on how you trade, and which different approaches you find enjoyable or at least tolerable. If he wanted to maximize his trade income I'd suggest exploiting the heck out of the game. You know, beacon trading slaves in Kumo-territory and such nonsense. By the way, you could consider leaving the oddly misdirected personal comments out, even if you disagree with what someone says.
