All Hail Sarah Jane - Mistress of the Minions

Compliments to Sarah Jane for recent AI improvements. Last night I had my butt handed to me in a USS by a pair of wanted "Harmless" Sidey's who were always behind my Viper no matter what I did. Could not out-turn them for love nor money. Get one in my sights and the other starts nibbling at my shields.

I eventually zoomed away and got them on a jousting run heading back, but my hull was taken down 12% before I did so. Humbling that.

So to Sarah Jane a final message:

I guess the vulture is still overpowered, then. I fitted another shield booster and stayed in a HI CZ for 1.9M kills (before breaking to bed). I did not notice much difference, but maybe that is due to my personal playing style. As soon as they go for jousting matches, I throttle to zero or even reverse. Keep my sights on them. But my shields can tank it easier than a Viper can.

I love the improvement too. Although I must admit having my Courier outmaneuvered by a Vulture is a bit frustrating. I better learn flying quickly!

You don't get better by fighting opponents who are worse than you so I applaud the ramp up in difficulty. It forces me to improve, or die.

Didn't think of flying backwards. Thanks for that.

I dunno... they're annoying. They fly 3-4k out then turn around. They just do fly bys, fly by maxed thrusters and then turn around. It's just annoying because at any point they could jump out. What are we supposed to do? 4 in engines and 2 in Weapons, trading fire with each pass by? It's also hard to get behind them because of this: They fly past, you waste time turning around, they boost and boost to 3km out, you chase, they turn around and then you've to turn around and chase them.

Hail, we are not worthy?

Lost my Viper last night, mind you, I was CZ and on my 2nd Python!

Arry.

The Vulture is not OP.
Well, at 15M-20M it wouldn't.
At 5M, it is.

The "Reverski" is a necessary evil.

4 pips to motor, FA Off, full reverse and upwards thruster (NPCS always pull up after a strafe)

SJA has improved the AI response to it but it still gets you guns on every time once you have mastered it.

if anyones getting 'out turned' you just FA off and swivel whilst spinning. Any ship can do that and it beats the A.I. turning circle everytime.

Last update was like phase #1... There's still a lot more to come...
So don't hail me, after all the combat AI is still a bit of a walkover right now and needs better tactics...

I don't get it at all. Can someone upload a vid of these amazing harmless sidewinders? I am no 1337 uber h4xorz PvP guy, but these sidewinders are basic target practice. They don't even use their power distributor, barely shoot at you, havent caught them doing anything decent FA-off/booster style etc. A viper should eat two harmless sideys no problem. I hear these reports from quite a few folks so it is really confusing me...

Great, looking forward to it. :)

I find that just widening your turn works pretty well. As I pull up, I thrust downward. This widens your turn and gives you some space. On some ships it will bring you to a near stop, which can be good or bad.

The AI have much improved indeed, but they crap out significantly more, too. They'd run but never actually jump, they wouldn't return fire, they collide with each other way too often. I'd go as far as to say they crap out 50% of the time.

But yeah, when they work, they're a ton of fun.

I had a similar experience. Lost shields once in a hi CZ but that was because i was being targeted by 3 vultures whilst taking out a python. Since the patch, I have also interdicted expert Pythons and killed them without taking a hit. I'm not noticing a massive difference to be honest.
