UPDATE 2: Frontier have confirmed there is a bug in the ring systems. This video shows the ring system bug in action:

It's seems every major patch, I end up posting about how the Ring systems get a graphical downgrade. This has happened consistently since late Beta. (For some reason I'm also the only one that seems to care all that much about this.

So what gives? The ring systems look pretty awful in my screenshots above. I'm just heading out to check some ice ones...
EDIT: As a comparison here is how they looked in Alpha. And to clarify, I'm not comparing the close up details of the asteroids themselves...I'm actually comparing the level of detail in the distance. Look at how they used to transition into the distance compared to now. In this screenshot it's only in the far distance that the LOD starts having issues...
