The Question: Can I retrieve/recover/resynch my data?
To explain: After using TCE for a while, I chose to fill in "ShipLogBook > Personal Stats > New Commander". When I hit "Save Commander" TCE froze. After waiting a considerable time (just in case it unlocked) I had to "Task Mgr > End Task". On restarting the program, all my data was 'lost'. To be specific, it does not come up on any TCE panel but appears to still be in the database: TCE.mdb. So back to my question, can I retrieve/recover/resynch my data before I cause irreversible loss by say, reinstalling.
BTW, I have searched this forum for clues, but did not see anything conclusive and specific to recovering data.
I could not get to the debug window that I know was there as it came up behind the frozen panel.
I am using TCE_v1.42beta2_update on top of TCE_v1.41_installer
Windows 8.1-64 with msOffice 2010 Excel and Access 32-bit
TCE is a great piece of work. You have worked hard to create TCE and get it out to us; That is apparent and I really do appreciate that. I don't mind some crashes and having to fiddle with new work, but to lose my data hurts.
Please advise about retrieving/recover/resynching my data and I promise I will do better be backing up the whole directory from now on.
Thanks
Hello,
a backup is done every day from your database folder. It is found at the backup folder of TCE. Please try a backup first.
If you encounter a behavior, as you described, and clicking on TCE results in a 'bing' sound, press enter and TCE continues or the debug window opens and shows you the codeline, where the error happens.
If all is not working, upload your database folder. I will check then, where the problem is.
