Explorers - What's the furthest you've travelled in-system to scan something?

I popped over to this binary companion today, and scanned it and it's planets...

One of which was quite nice looking...

Dark gas giant with light rings...pretty :)

System located 1000ly galactic south of Imperial Space.

It presumably didn't take you 10 hours to get there (going by the hud indicator but you're only travelling at 15 times the speed of light at the time), but how long did it actually take you to cover that distance? I've come across a few like this and simply gave up, respect to you for sticking it out. You never know what you might come across :)

Of the three diciplines in ED I like exploring the most. Because it's the only discipline where you can have a defined target, that of distance.
The furthest I have travelled is 7500ly from lave, straight down i.e. south. I stopped when I could go no further due to the jump range on my ASP.
Like you I travelled 1000ly at first and thought, wow that's a long way from home.
I take my hat off to those that have travelled 65000ly!

No, it didn't :)

I got up to 1000 lights on the way - total travel time = about 11 mins.

Not too bad at all...

My highest in-system distance is comparable to your image teaurn.
Around 500k ls to bag an Earth-like world.

Generally speaking I don't bother with other stars in the system that are more than about 10,000 LS away. I will only go to those that are more than 6kLS if there are lots of HMC planets. The longest I recall going was around 100,000LS: there was a spec of blue in the black around that star, and I will go out of my way for the prospect of an Earth-like. Happily, it was one, which made the journey worthwhile.

Oh ok, was expecting a far far larger time period than that. Like I say I've come across a few but the rate at which the expected time of arrival decreases it still seems to be a "shall I bother or not" scenario, obviously the timer decreases quicker and quicker in an exponential manner, I simply didn't think it would reduce to that extent. 11 minutes ain't too bad at all really, I shall be a bit more patient in the future ;).

I don't recall the distance, but i do recall it taking a good 20-25 minutes to get into scan range.

Never......jump into system....start Fog Horn Leg Horn....system explored....then jump to next system...sorted ! If I knew there may be Aliens hiding on a planet I might scan things other than just the quick scan and jump i actually do.

Well, yes, but Hutton orbital is hardly exploring.

It is when you are first starting out! ;-)

Furthest since then doing _real_ exploring (wherever that starts?) is around 600K Ls

Edit: Plus he never asked "what's the furthest you have travelled in-system to scan something whilst exploring"... ;-)

Kinda did, in the title!! ;)

Nope, you just asked in the title for explorers (I am in explorer) to say what the furthest distance they had traveled to scan an object in-system had been. No mention of them having to have done it while out in the black exploring. There is a subtle difference. ;-)

The furthest I (an explorer) have traveled in-system to scan an object was 0.22LY at Hutton Orbital.

The furthest I (an explorer) have traveled in-system to scan an object while exploring (out in the black, although some would argue you can explore in known space as well) was around 500K Ls.

See?
