What would happen if i had taken out my faction leader?

Just leaving station in 'Holiacan' and low and behold I scan a Hauler and my faction leader Edmund Mahon is the CMDR!

Followed back into station, and checked, yep its him. He leaves and appears to have a Python as Escort. Now I'm an average pilot, but do have a tooled up ASP at the moment, so feel our faction leader is taken a risk being in a hauler, with or without escort?!*

If I had had traitorous tendency's and taken him out, what would of been the consequence? Would FD put up a new leader graphic in the powerplay hall of fame?

Anyway, just thought I would comment as it was all a bit of a surprise stumbling across him, or has this happened to many folk with their faction leaders?

Maybe the first peek of a persistent NPC? Maybe Mahon was out on a diplomatic envoy or just stretching his legs. Are you sure it was him? Maybe you´ve gotten Powerplay fever

It's just a randomly generated name, I think. You can't kill, or directly interact with, Tier 1 NPCs.

Most likely he would respawn back at the last station and pay ship insurance.

I dont think they would spend all that effort designing the art work for these leaders for some guy with a laser to erase them from existence in a second just to see what would happen.
