I wish the Thargoids would turn up and eradicate this Power Play nonsense.

Politics is boring in real life, so why inject it into a game?

FD, what have you guys been smoking? ;-)

I wonder where the idea that the majority of your player-base are interested in political struggles came from?
Was there a questionnaire? Were the users polled?

Is this "making the game we want to play" something that is restricted to FD employees, or is it also open to the players?

If it was open to the players to chose the next major expansion, where is the evidence that this was it?

What I sense is a fairly split community with <50% enjoying Power Play or with any appetite for it.

Why make Power Play such a time-sink/High Effort/low reward add-on?

A good Inter-species war with the Thargoids is something everyone can get behind....politics??? ..... not so much I think.

Maybe I've missed the point of Power Play completely, but it is certainly not a "system" within ED that I want to participate in, it leaves me colder than a week-old corpse in a freezer.
Thank goodness for other modes of play!

I shall keep reading the newsletters in the hope of signs of change in direction.

Just my opinion (I am entitled to it), but I wonder how many others think the emperors new clothes are a bit of a joke?

I wonder how much of PowerPlay is setting the game engine for an all-out war between humanity and an alien power?

(he asked innocently)

It'd be cool if we lose, the galaxy gets reset. :)

I am disappointed people argue for the removal of part of the game that is entirely optional, just because they are not interested in it.

That is like me saying, "I don't plan on buying a Vulutre, lets remove them from the game because combat is boring."

Developers adding something to a game you aren't going to use is not a personal attack on you or personal insult.
Everything should not just be about making you feel warm and happy.

Saying it makes you feel "colder than a week-old corpse in a freezer." is quite a statement on how you feel about not getting what you want all the time in a computer game.

Also you should make claims that FDev never polled the player base on who would like PP or not then make your own statements of the % without a poll yourself.

I'm reserving my opinion on powerplay until we are a few cycles down the line. But in the meantime i have decide to jump in and am taking part and learning what it is all about.

For the moment for me it adds a new dimension to the game that is interesting and is encouraging me to play and gets me slightly more engaged with the whole situation because it is far more engaging that three aloof factions that did little to the game, now when i log in i think - yeah, i will go and do a bit of powerplay - but that's just personal opinion/preference.

I find i'm integrating it into the way i play. but if you dont like it, you don't have to pledge. thing is, politics happens whether you like it or are interested in it or not. There is nothing forcing you to take a side like you say.

Don't be so keen for the thargoids to happen too soon, as i think that is a curve ball down the line that will change EVERYTHING XD

(\(\;;/)/)

Politics are very interesting. Problem is there's no clear pay off. It's constant struggle. So yes, if you aren't into it, stay out of it. Last time I checked PP are colossal time and cred sinks...really just for those who are in for such meta game.

Because working your way up to an Anaconda can only be done once, working your way up to Elite can only be done thrice, while working for an ideology can be done for ever.

Not your cup of tea? Don't do it.

You know, its not the high tier players getting into this, it's the semi-new, moderately experienced players. They deserve something that helps them grow as a player WHILE giving them a thrill. It should be an alternative to all of the madness that is this galaxy. Not a grind on top of a grind.

Really? Can you add any numbers, or a link where you got that from?

And the word "grind" is so thoroughly hollowed out by now, that even life itself is starting to become one.

I have no problem with powerplay, i just don't pledge to any faction. Because , yes, i have no interest in politics.
I like to stay independent and free, go from faction space to faction space without problems.
Like i always did, keep independent democratic factions alive, because they have those nice black markets.

But somehowe 1.3 is forcing me in to powerplay. Outside big faction controled space all kind's of bugs are ruining the gameplay.
The fun off being independent is taken away from the game. And i do hope that they wil fix this , fast.
So ,i do not want powerplay removed, it ads to the gameplay, just want a bug free game outside powerplay.

So somehow, running papers from point A to point B a few dozen times is considered "working for an ideology"?
None of the missions of PP are any different from the missions we were doing before.

Nothing idealistic about it.

I can't be the only one here who wanted to sign their name with a power since day one. Being able to contribute and see how my faction is doing any given day gives me the warm fuzzies :)

The developers are making the game they want to play, and we're just along for the ride. Don't be so selfish.

Selfishness is just human nature, some can control it and others are controlled by it. That is the order of things.

In all seriousness what really concerns me is the lack of people viewing the Dangerous Suggestions part of the forum, a good place to help give the Developers new ideas and stimulate the creative juices. If no one suggests it, it won't be done.

Power play give players something to support in-game. That's a fine thing. The issue for me is the things you do to support that power are dull. This is because the mission layer is anaemic - it still needs work.

Oh, so it's not meant to be enjoyed by anyone but the devs, and the tiny number of devs shouldn't care about their massive amount of consumers. Maybe they don't have to worry now, but come time for their first paid expansion, they may be shocked to see how few people are still interested.
