Replacing special modules

In about 4 weeks time when we are all eligible for the unique faction module and you buy one but then you leave or defect from that faction will you be able to get another one if you get blown up? Insurance will pay for replacing modules but I don't think a faction would want their "special" gear out to traitors so I wouldn't think that they would be able to.

I think I saw it written somewhere that if you defect, the module will stay with you until you sell it; requirements to purchase it are based on your loyalty, not requirements to use it.

However, since the weapons weren't available in beta, no one has had a chance to test this yet...

I get that if you were to sell it you can't get another one. But I was asking if you get destroyed would insurance give you a replacement.

Does any faction offer stronger power plants than the standard fare?
Not yet. That I can think.

I'm actually intrigued at how FD are going to muck the modules up in 4 weeks time. Guess they won't please everyone.

1) they'll be overpowered - Nerf bat
2) they'll be pointless and people will whine about 4 weeks of "grind" for nothing.

3) the Holy Grail - that of them being ....... just right.

4) lol, they aren't released because of some unforeseen problem with development.

Obviously I'm hoping for (3). For more powerful shields you have to compromise of power management or something. Maybe even price? Let's wait and see hey.

More likely:

5) They'll have obvious show-stopping/game breaking bugs, but will leave "beta" anyway.

My guess is yes but of course it will be a bug.

LOL the importance of not giving definite answers for game developers.. gotta have a way open to reverse course.

As for the shield example: Either its not worth grinding for, or everybody else will call "ridiculous" and get it nerfed. I'm afraid there is no "just right". Maybe FD will make the super shield work only in PvE, but in PvP, it drops to normal values, like other game developers have done.

I think a power plant is much easier to balance. It doesn't overpower any particular system, you would just be able to have slightly more flexibility in fitting your ship. (like not having to swap your A rated FSD and Sensors for E or D rated sensors just to be able to install a KWS and such things.

Anyone in a Vulture or FDL won't have skimped on weapons or shields anyway, so the ship doesn't suddenly become more powerful, all the extra power affords is better Sensors, FSD, KWS etc. Auxiliary stuff, not overpowering the ship, but making it a more luxurious, enjoyable flight.
