Great, more revenues!

No, it's more likely to hit PC and Mac first as they are the lead development platform. It depends on the content though.

Michael
This worries me. It seems to me like you want to encourage people to buy ED again on consoles (hence the $5 gift card), but if you release different content at different times on different platforms, what is to stop the community fragmenting with each update?

Is that the crux then? Console kiddies getting something before the master race? Cos that's what it sounds like.
If you want to put it childishly. If you were actually asking for me to word it, I'd say that my concern is certain platforms getting features before others. I don't care what feature or platform it is. I want all features out on all platforms at the same time.

I don't get why so many PC players seem to think that gamers on consoles are a different species.

If FDev are making stuff for a game, not for a platform. Whether it works or not is the important factor.

I'm in that boat, purile voice-chat and their in game actions proves it my friend :D

The childishness is the "I Want" attitude. Apologies in advance for being blunt.

Other people may do the whole "PC master race" thing. I don't. I just want fairness. I want everyone, all pilots, to enjoy all content together at the same time. I don't want a fragmented community.

Because they're aimed at consumers not gamers.
Because they have a locked in, non-updateable technology that is an obstacle to progress. If the only home computer to play games on from 1981 to 1986 had been the Sinclair ZX81 and then from 87 to 91 the Commodore 64 and then from 92 to 97 the first PC ... yeah?
Because they are dumbed down versions of PCs with limited graphics, limited CPU power, limited RAM and no capability for user modification (pretty much) and if, as is the case, the vast majority of games are tailored to them and THEN ported to PC we NEVER get to see what's REALLY possible.
Because they are the antithesis of what the generation of coders and constructors that BUILT the digital world desired.
They are the death of the imaginative

Well..I agree! However, we play Elite: Dangerous. That ship has sailed with the horse that walked out because the barn door was open....and the crew is still flogging the poor dead thing.

How much did the Mac port concern you?

Firstly, macs can be far more capable machines than an xbox, and dont impose limits on graphics quality.

Second, macs don't restrict patch release dates and possibly expansion release dates. Xbox does.

Third, macs use the same control input. Xbox forces you to use a controller. Will the game controls be dumbed down in future to suit that? I don't know, and that breeds fear.

Finally, mac releases have not made anything worse before that I have seen. Consoles on the other hand? I have NEVER seen a console release make ANYTHING any better. And don't say the extra revenue allows devs to make a better game for the pc, because they also get the extra job of keeping console gamers (who like very different game types to PC gamers) happy.

Downgraded graphics (or a lack of updates over 5 or so years=same thing), simplistic controls and gameplay to appease the console market?

I'll wait until Star Citizen and No Mans Sky, and then jump ship if they do something so monumentally stupid.

We're still working on updates for Powerplay and of course on longer term features and content for all platforms.

Michael

I wish I knew that I would get an answer for my cry out from someone like you - I would have composed a more detailed question with more valuable contents and less offense.
Your presence here is highly appreciated!

I'll keep an eye on the "soon!" process but honestly my motivation is really eroding with all actions you devs take which is not focused on making a better quality.
Please do really start bring the "soon" to the "now" where the words and promises can meet the facts. Now you should have all money you need to do that.

Thank you,
Peter

The context of my Mac port comment was in relation to PC development slowing down due to porting, not the platform itself.

Woohoo if i pay 30.99 i get a 5.00 coupon. Screw that FD. What does CQC mean. Does it mean we are out of the ships and running around. How can CQC work in open space? I bet its a ship vs ship fight inside a space stations landing area. Way to think outside the box FD. Or i guess cylinder.

Star Citizen will be the game i move to if ED gets dumbed down for the console.

Michael, does it mean you are now officially given up on crossplay? I understand it was never promised but you said you will evaluate it. So I guess answer is 'not gonna happen any time soon', I am correct? Just curious.

it saddens me that this hollow, lifeless, pew pew add-on has consumed dev resources from fixing a number of important bugs that still exist in the game and from properly integrating the existing methods of play so that they flow together properly. As a cmdr who is not pledged to a power, if I kill a hundred or more 'agents' of a power, that apparently has zero affect on that powers current goals. This is not a living, evolving, responsive universe.
I don't want to exclude players on consoles or any other platform. We can all play together just fine. The PC doesn't have to get everything first either, but I can't help feeling that the priorities are a bit skewed.
