haha! erm im not.
first article for me:

It's daft.
Currently I spend more time on here than in the game as I cannot be bothered playing it, if the CQC was in the game now I'd probably be playing it, but no, gotta wait X months while Microsoft get their pound of flesh. As if hacking off portions of games and holding them hostage on a platforum is any way shape or form a good things for the consumer. It's good for the platform holders and the developer. That's it. To argue otherwise is weird.

Atleast we now know why the ignored half the bugs in the 1.3 beta forum and shipped a shoddy release, half the team was off working on this.

Here's a nice summary of "E3 crunch" for anyone willing to read it :

Whilst the xbox players are off testing their fun packed pvp arena we'll be sitting in the station waiting for the shields on our pythons to recharge for ten minutes.

CQC - How will it be integrated into the game

Is CQC a separate mode separated from the galaxy? or will the arenas be stattered around live galaxy that you can travel to?

Will you have to travel around the galaxy to different tournaments to rise up a league table?
Will the results be posted in Galnet or will it have it own separate news feeds?.

Guys guys, calm down.

Just remember FD has certain issues when it comes to releasing bug free code. Isn't it a wonderful thing that the xbox players will get to find all the bugs for us PC players before it comes to the PC version? Who knows, it might even be fairly bug free by the time it gets to us.

And it makes a nice new cool addition to the game. Maybe some of those players who just randomly blow other players up will now go show their mettle in CQC... or maybe not, i doubt many people will enter tournaments in shieldless traders :D

It looks cool. Something we really need... I mean, we need something like that arena if only to dodge in and out of stuff. I think it would be a great point for them to build upon. Use it as a basis for galactic death races with really dangerous and very rare to finish race tracks. No shields, no weapons, just run the gauntlet and get a prize for coming first.

Also, there is a new ship there, right?

Exactly. I really don't see the argument that this is a better fit for console than pc (guess you never played the descent series then?), if this was released on all platforms at the same time I'd be playing it immediately. A proper consensual pvp arena is something I've been hoping you'd add since Alpha.

Well this was coming for sure. The writings been on the wall for a while if anyone looked hard enough. Sounds like it'll be fun.

I have several friends who are xbone players. I guess the big question is will the CQC be cross-platform, like Shadowrun?

Instant thoughts on watching it - Wipeout™ in space. Random babble incoming. It's disjointed sorry, I'm short on time.

I realise we're in more modern times, but ... CQC ... it's not very "Elite" is it.

I mean, the PC version just got a very big, very slow moving version of something kind of RPG in Powerplay which hasn't really ignited any spark in me to align myself with anyone and was bemoaned for not feeling true to the core game, but that feels more Elite than this console tack-on - PP won't interest any of the console gamers that I know, and yet this CQC is purported to train people for the rest of the game, which in itself seems to be moving more towards politics.

I barely see another player let alone fight them whilst dodging scenery, so I think they'll find the "main" game (with the inherent need to carve your own path and get into it RP style to enjoy) too slow, and I'm not convinced that the PvP mode type thing is going to constitute enough of a game to hold an XBoners interest.

Hence, I see the game either goes way more towards console with much more CQC-instant-play type stuff (further from the Elite we all backed) or it stalls on the console platforms completely. I know where the money is and I don't think I like what I'm thinking will happen...

BETA is here for that, but half the bugs repoted in BETA made it to release. You can be pretty sure we will see the same XO1 bugs on PC.

You know, as I was repeating the same missions over and over for the past 9 months, I've been thinking "what will really spice this game up is a pvp arena".

guys guys guys...

why all the hatred? BE GLAD about it! Fdev will get piles of money for this. and MORE MONEY for Fdev is GOOD for US.

It does look good and add's another dimension to the game.

At the end of the day, no one is forcing anyone to play that part of the game.

As long as I can keep doing what I want to out there, then I'm reasonably happy. It will be interesting to see how the game content evolves, this is what concerns me slightly, will Elite Dangerous be recognisable in a year + from now?

I'm not at all averse to PvP arenas. They're a great idea, and hopefully could disconnect the "farming to fund short periods of fun" cycle for new would-be PvPers.

I am, however, troubled by dishonest render-heavy trailers. I'm also averse to content going exclusively to the boners first. If anything was a bad sign, it was that- a big fat middle finger to existing players, backers and their household pets. The whole thing just reeks of sharp practise, bait and switch and the urge not to buy a used car from certain people.

I like the look of the trailer and that arena mode could be loads of fun but I'm disappointed that PC has to wait due to Micro$oft's console.

I hope PC gets a nice "exclusive" expansion this year ;)
