Rebuy cost and PvP

How does Frontier hope to improve PvP if I take 5 minutes to get killed by 3/4 winged PCs every time I fly in some interesting system and at least 4/5 hours grinding to earn the rebuy amount necessary for 5 minutes more in open play?

well you could try not getting killed or venturing into "interesting" systems alone.

death has to matter or you just get games like Vendetta Online. No.

Frontier hopes that your PvP skills get better. They also offer you the opportunity to play in a Group, like Mobius, that has a no PvP rule. Finally they offer you the option to play in Solo mode freeing you from all PvP situations.

If I'm in a fight I can't win I jump away.

It only takes 15 seconds for an out-system jump which is not effected by mass-lock, death is optional.

I wondered about this. But, if they are selling the "television rights" to the masses then, well pretty sure they should pay for or subsidise the insurance costs... Or provide ships specifically for CQC

Hear the man, and you shall see the light. On a serious note if you don't wanna get destroyed you can always hyperjump and be on your merry way.

Well so, if I am a lone flyer and don't want to depend on other people to play open, I have to lose an enjoyable aspect of E: D because it takes a lot to grind money enough to cover rebuy cost again? Maybe is more likely that I lose interest in the game and go play Vendetta on line.

pvp whit smaller ships, they are generally better suited for pvp and reward your pilot skills more.
larger ships is a crutch that you also have to pay more for.

Not sure what you expect to happen when you fly alone and come against a wing of equal or bigger ships. You will lose that battle. That's how it should be and is. Like others have said: dying is almost always optional in elite. You should never bet if you can't afford to lose. This is a much more preferable system than dying being cheap and meaningless. If it's not your style of fun, well that's why more than 1 game exists in the universe. Not everyone can be catered to.

Or maybe, since coward people don't self-limit, there should be a limit to the number of people that can attack each other in PvP. I could be the best PvP fighter in all the universe but if a 4 people wing attacks me when I'm alone I can do nothing but succumb. I agree that in real life if I walk alone in the most dangerous district of my town at 2 A.M. with a gold watch in my wrist I risk my life but not always reality rhymes with playability.

Maybe you'll be able to hone those skills in the new arena mode whenever they plan on releasing it. OR, and I know this is preferable to Frontier, you could buy the game again, this time on xbox, and get good with a controller in pvp.

Develop your running away quickly skills, once you've mastered that you can dip in and out of combat as you wish. Most ganking wings contain some big slow ships you can completely ignore just throttle up with pip's to engines and they cant even get into the fight.

Fast big ships like the FDL and the clipper are a more serious threat. But like I said you only need to survive for 15 seconds, plus the time it takes to select a system in the nav screen. I'd advise doing this during the interdiction phase if they are after you in FSD and if you are in a CZ preselect a route in your galaxy map and have a shortcut button for next jump destination before you enter).
