Elite: Dangerous Media Revelations...

Because they sold me the next game in the Elite franchise and delivered a half working kid's console game.

David Braben stood on a public stage last year and delivered a pitch of a game I wanted, and delivered nothing of the sort.

He is a charlatan and a liar and shame on everyone working for him.

Ian Bell was right.

It's all about the marketing for me. David needs a better spin doctor... They are way out of their league. Not only do they have an awesome game on their hands but they also have a large number of people who paid a substantial amount more for it than it was worth to get it build in the first place.

Keeping the original backers appeased and feeling their money was well spent will always be a difficult task and juggling that with creating more revenue - doubly so.

You have hit the nail on the head. He does need help. They are not used to having such a devoted and passionate crowd to contend with. Not to mention a big chunk of them helped make the game happen. Up until Elite and with the exception of Lost Winds, this is their first independent AAA title without the backing of a publisher.

Like you say.. there really needs to be someone helping them find that balance. This negativity and feeling that has been created can only be bad for the games future.

I only started being negative when I played beta 1.3, and I've tried to keep it constructive.

Question 1: What in your opinion could we do better to not go on a raging bender whenever something new is unveiled?

We could keep it constructive and try to sympathise more with the fact that FDev are a business as well as game development artists. There are going to have to be compromises to suit other people/other playstyles/other platforms.

Question 2: What in your opinion could Frontier do better to not having us go on a raging bender whenever something new is unvieled?

Be honest with us, stop dancing around new releases as if they are Bethesda, run things buy us first and at least listen to what we have to say about them (I'm not suggesting they do what we tell them to do, merely that they at least give us a hearing).

Question 1: What in your opinion could we do better to not go on a raging bender whenever something new is unveiled?

A loud minority always will. It's what happens when when you surprise people. Some people love surprises, others hate them with a passion. I'm far more concerned with seeing the game we have completed.

Not this...

Is it our fault? Are we too sensitive?

That comes down to Patience. How long is too long for unresolved issues?

Or are Frontier to blame?

Are they trying? Yes. Are they focused on what matters right now? No.

Question 1: What in your opinion could we do better to not go on a raging bender whenever something new is unveiled?

I don't see it as a "raging bender" as much as the built frustration of not having a working product. New bugs?

Question 2: What in your opinion could Frontier do better to not having us go on a raging bender whenever something new is unvieled?

Focus on the stability of what we have first. I was fine with how ED released but that was under the assumption that the "base game" would be sorted out before we even saw new content. So many things are still left to question and the game is already 7 months in! All gameplay information is pieced together and information shared by the players. Where are shield stat values? Finalized crime and punishment? Weapon tracking issues? Stuttering fixes? *refer to reported bugs for the rest.

I got onboard late Beta. Many said that ED was releasing too early. I defended the decision as "It's a base game, content will come later." Unfortunately, 7 months later, it is still in Beta with new Beta content.

Ouch! wow..thats a bit harsh. I'm eager to play CQC, and understand the decision for first on the xbox, but is this what Frontier really thinks of us guys? jeez :(

Answer 1 : Yes. The community could do a lot better at “not raging”. This is, after all, not pre-school.

Answer 2 : No. I am sure the last thing FD want is a raging community so they do what they feel they need to do the best way they feel possible.

What could we do better ? Grow Up.
What could FD do better ? Not sure. They already seems to be pretty good at shaking their heads and laughing at the state of todays on-line "communities". They listen where they feel listening is needed and ignore what deserves to be ignored. Just like a parent does when their babies wont stop crying.

Tell you what Eddie, forget about the PC altogether and just make a shallow console shooter. Leave the PC games to the big boys, eh?

So when is your departure date...and can i haz ur stuff when you go? ;)

I've not played since 1.3 beta as it broke piracy. I'm playing witcher 3 right now hoping for a fix.

I love the game and have played over a thousand hours and have already bought the expansions. I'm not gonna make a hissy fit "I quit thread" but I'm going to voice my displeasure since I've paid my money along with everyone else :p

Speaking collectively. We all want the game we want to play. If the release doesn't match what we want, we complain. If FD communicated earlier, we would still moan and for longer. I also think that FD have begun to appreciate the implications and importance of multi player and not all the player base have embraced that and its impact on priorities. Speaking personally as we moved through Beta it became very obvious to me that multiplayer was coded one way and needed to be something different, so I adjusted my mind set as to what I was expecting ED to be.

While I still think my Nothing, Nothing is still accurate...here are some answers that might establish themselves in an alternate universe.

1. We could be more patient, less self-entitled and find other ways to spend our free time.

2. FD could take a remedial course in public relations...not just Mr. Lewis, he is actually pretty great...I mean everyone else, especially Mr. RUDE quoted above. Brookes needs his own PR assistant...while I find his curt responses humorous they often come across as fed up and defensive.

If FD thinks we are bad...just wait....oh my...you just wait

Eddie's recent tweets have done nothing but infuritate me even more. How unprofessional.

It makes me so mad they freely talk on twitter but never once come here and say it. I've been waiting for someone at Frontier to tell me how appreicated we are since the DDF closed.

Why should they...have you seen what people say about these poor folks? They bust their asses for nothing but complaints and grief from so many in this community. If they came here in large numbers, they would quit their jobs because the forums would have sucked their souls away a long time ago. How many times would you allow someone to come to your house that did nothing but bitterly complain but about you to your face, with no sense of propriety, or care for your dignity.

Also, on Twitter, they have a little bit of freedom to speak their mind. If you don't like what they say...ask yourself why they said it. A little empathy goes a long way.

To go off topic a little, and express my own opinion, since others are sharing:

1. I was an early backer. I know how my expectations were managed. We were told from the very start that the game would be in a continuous state of development. We were also told that it would likely be a year before most of the big extra stuff, like planetary landings, first-person walking around ships and stations, etc would be added, because (and there is an actual dev diary by David Braben where he explicitly says this) he wants it done right - he doesn't just want a heightmap with some weather effects and nothing to do when you land. I like that idea. I've been blown away by the ship-flying part and the 1:1 scale galaxy already. So I am also okay with waiting until it's done right and is as good as that, since they have made it clear well in advance from the very beginning that it'll take time My opinon is that if someone complains that they want that NOW and it is outrageous that it not being delivered yet means it has been dropped entirely... and then starts talking about 'betrayal', 'lies', etc... they are only making themselves look impatient, petulant and entitled. Not to mention dishonest. I hope Frontier completely ignore them.

2. I do not care whether Xbox players get an exclusive beta period for CQC. It doesn't mean a thing. I think anyone who cares whether they get to try out something first, and jealously screams when other players get any kind of 'exclusive' before them... they're not doing themselves any favours by expressing their jealousy. We're all going to get to play it eventually anyway. Do you really care that much about having one over on other people? Really? And can you really not see why people like me hope you're given a stiff and thorough ignoring by Frontier?

Since we're all sharing how we feel.

Have you seen the Witcher 3 forums...they need some good forumites over there! At least you might have some effect's over there! ;P

Seriously, sorry to hear you are taking a break...it happens. Hopefully, the game will get closer to your expectations someday.

All valid points, but this ain't 1995 anymore. Your online presence represents not only yourself, but everyone that has chosen to associate you or employ you. You stand as an example of what your friends choose to keep in their circles and what your employer values.

Regardless if this community had been hurling constant waves of crap at them, which it hasn't (only around releases, lol), he cannot disparage their ONLY customers like that. It is a boneheaded move and deserves a swift slap on the head.
