You have betrayed our trust Frontier. This is not the way to treat your customers and backers

I am an alpha backer from US who spent 200 GBR on the game. Mr. Braben previously stated that XBOX ONE and PC players cannot play together because patches on XBOX ONE take longer to upload (because Microsoft needs to approve them) than on PC and MAC, where you can have patches on day 1.

Now, the CQC is available for XBOX ONE and will be available for PC and MAC in Holiday 2015. This is 6 months from now. Clearly Mr. Braben has lied to his backers, players, and everyone around the world. The real reason is the exclusivity. This would be ok if the game was funded by a publisher, however, the game was partially funded by backers via Kickstarter. The reason for exclusivity is that Microsoft wants to sell their XBOX ONE and Frontier wants to get paid. Fair enough, then let all the backers get a free XBOX ONE and a XBOX ONE copy of the Elite Dangerous. After all, XBOX ONE is the only platform where you can play CQC for the next 6 months. Frontier have used backer's money to get the ball rolling. Without backers, there would not be any XBOX ONE Elite Dangerous. Frontier states that "PC is still the main development platform". Of course it is , it is a test subject to propell the XBOX ONE Elite Dangerous sales.

I embrace Elite coming to XBOX ONE. This means more players, more money for Frontier. It is a win win situation for everyone. However, this cannot be done at the expense of the Backers. I say Backers, and not PC community as a whole because if you are not a backer and bought Elite after release, you were not promised anything besides what was in the box so to speak. However, Frontier promised a lot to Backers and now it is a slap in the face for backers to wait for CQC Release for PC version until Christmas. This is bad business. They took backer's money, used backers like a toilet paper, and then flushed them down the toilet.

First, Frontier screwed over Backers by eliminating Single Player mode and lied about true reasons for doing it as well. This was done days before the release of the game. SOLO online mode is a on-line DRM protection for Elite Dangerous, not the "shared universe" across all modes. At the same time, Frontier screwed over the multiplayer crowd who wanted MMO and PVP. So, a lot of gamers became affected. What upsets me are the blatant and nauseating lies from Mr. Braben. I used to have a lot of respect for him and played his original Elite in the 80s. I suppose - money corrupts. It only makes sense - use backers to partially fund the project. Make money from them and selling the game on their website. Sell game on Steam for greater exposure. Once this is tapped, and only (Steam sale remains), sell game on Xbox One and screw over the PC and MAC gaming community by making them wait 6 months to get their hands on CQC module. You have betrayed our trust Frontier. This is not the way to treat your backers and more importantly - your customers. It is a bad business.

As for me, I want my 200 Quid back!

LMAO! I'm keeping my toys, FD haven't betrayed me in the least but I do like to be a spectator when people have a good old hissy fit :)

Although I'm an Alpha backer, I agree! ED twists and turns and slowly matures. Meanwhile I'm getting sick from all the popcorn I'm eating while watching threads like this one spring up. It's almost like a forum-fungus...

:D S

I have never played a game that has held my interest like ED does, except for the original. Aside from KS pledge and in game extras, I have spent a small fortune on Hotas, new pc and upgraded peripherals. Worth every penny!!

OP, take a deep breath. Step back. Go for a walk. There's a tin foil hat shop two blocks down on the left. I hear they have a great £200 or less sale on the tin foiliest models.

Oh for heaven's sake...being an early adopter, in on it before anyone else, a cool out of reach for others, and bragging rights never to be bestowed on another are all the perks you should expect for your money.

Also, part of being in on the ground floor, being an early adopter means things will change.

But no, mister big shot throwing his benjamins around...really big player in the industry, I'm sure.

Paid £200 for ED and all future DLCs,
expects free XBOX1 with another ED thrown in....

Sounds reasonable....

If you don't get why this is a good thing for all of us, then maybe you should take a step back and take a look at the greater picture, because now you're too close and don't see all the good stuff :)

The thing is is that even without the cqc exclusivity the numbers would still be the same. People aren't buying it on xbox for cqc they're buying it for the game fist and foremost.

My main beef is having first time players beta testing something when we already have a large pvp community with a years worth of experience in beta testing and hundreds of hours of flight time.

There's already a massive lack of depth and content in the main game, having access to cqc on pc could keep more of the loyal crowd playing instead of complaining every new release about the continuing lack of content.

I agree with the point you made about letting backers down by releasing exclusive beta testing to XBOne owners first. There were many players on PC who purchased ED after the end of beta who asked if they could test for a small fee. They have been largely ignored.

However, I now believe that FD need to get more revenue and console users provide that by enticing them with exclusive content. As I have said in other posts, now that PP and CQC have been implemented, perhaps FD can now start to focus on depth and immersive content, starting with 1.4.

Thanks buddy, for bringing sanity to this thread.

p.s. OP: how could Elite have possibly worked in non-solo? Sorry, I'm not a backer so I don't know what they were saying about how it would work. Afaik, it needs a huge massive server to provide real time data whenever you go to a "new" system, and store all the data of explored systems.

Yes, I see the big picture. Elite Dangerous is on XBOX ONE. It is great for everyone! I agree 100%. However, Frontier should have warned backers before they forked over 200 quid that some parts of the game might not be available for PC version. We were promised to experience everything firsthand. "Promised" is the controlling word here. They should have released CQC at the same time, and if not (Sorry, 5 GBR off does not cut it), they should have given us something for free. Frontier kept the XBOX ONE launch in the dark, as they did with the Single Player. It is a matter of honesty, fairness and integrity, of which, Frontier is in desperately low supply.

I tried to be sympathetic to this alpha backer backlash thing, but after this OP I just can't. Really you all sound like a bunch of spoiled brats. You've had your exclusivity for more than a year. You have discounts and in-game perks that most players will never have. At this point the whining does nothing but make you look bad.

News flash - kickstarter phase is over.

I also remember playing the first game in 1984.

Kids didn't seem to complain about their version of games not having stuff back then. Some versions of Elite had more missions or more music or even more ships.

There were no internet forums of course so we were forced to act like reasonable adults I guess.

Well, look at it this way(I searching for silver linings!). Xbox players will fumble around with CQC issues, some will get fixed, most will be ignored. Then, when we beta test it prior to integration with PC/MAC we will actually find all the problems and get it patched very quickly. Since the Xbox players are behind MS quality control they will be stuck with their buggy version. In the end, since we aren't locked in the garden, PC still ends up on top.
