So, what are the exciting E3 announcements?

The PC announcement for ED was the same as the Xbox announcement, PvP arena on the way.

They weren't going to announce a paid expansion for a game that is just about to come out full price on another format. Buy it now on Xbox 1 then buy the expansion in a few months time!

I missed the stream but i imagine he went on to talk about rollercoasters and got caught talking about Elite so had to move on quickly or risk wasting his spot on the wrong game.

He didn't talk about Elite at all. Braben said, "We've had a couple of great updates for Elite: Dangerous" (I'm paraphrasing), and then something strange happened where he stopped talking for a good 15 seconds. It was just silence. He apologized, the host made a joke about the awkwardness, then he moved on to the Roller Coaster Tycoon video and left the stage.

Having watched the clip a couple of times I think he got pure stage anxiety. I feel awful for him but have seen it before with people at big events - he literally just 'froze' and his brain said 'ok - outta here - bye!'. Anyone with an ounce of compassion should feel for him. :(

The host did a good job (like he should) jiggling things along, and the trailer for the new theme coaster thing looked cool. No harm - it happens..

Can those who saw this clarify what rollercoaster game he talked about?
Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise is not Frontier's own IP, they got the licence to make RCT II and RCT III. The reason they can't make RCT IV (and I got this from Michael himself) is that it's not their IP, that's why they made/are making Coaster Park Tycoon.

Was David talking about yet another rollercoaster game? (not being critical, just asking)

EDIT: wait ... the Coaster Park Tycoon section just renamed to Planet Coaster

I've seen it now on the other link, seems to me that he got confused in the nerves and had to take a moment to get back on track.
Nothing sinister but he clearly only came on to announce rollercoasters and found himself babbling about Elite so stopped himself.

It's extremely hard to say Alien - what was shown didn't really reveal many clues, apart from dropping trees and guys in dinosaur suits.

Beat me to it, he showed the non gameplay trailer for the rebranded game.

I just noticed the Coaster Park Tycoon section on the forum just renamed to Planet Coaster ... so that could be the game that David talked about?

I think it was called "Roller Coaster Universe" (EDIT: Planet Coaster I believe you're right) or something like that, it wasn't a numbered sequel for Roller Coaster Tycoon. It was essentially a CGI trailer with a cartoon guy running through an amusement park, and then Braben said you could preorder the game through the website and immediately left the stage. It was quite fast and awkward. I think he was still reeling from the headset/brain freeze awkward moment he had before the trailer played.

TBH, they just showed a trailer for the game which is named Planet Coaster. He barely said anything other than intro the game and said that there have already been three updates for Elite. There has been a few different segments where the speakers have barely said anything about the game and just shown a video I think.

.. you could have actually said something about the future of Elite: Dangerous on a PC show.

Yeah I was expecting something about elite, or even something about coaster sim, normally more vocal.

But its nice to see no man sky is coming to PC. :D

Yup Planted Toaster - that's it. It did look like fun, like watching on your kids watching a Saturday TV show - but as a game idea? Not my pint of beer.

Dave's presentation style was so awkward that even Sean Murray would probably wince. He said nothing about the game I paid for. However, none of that has any bearing on the future of the game. ED is currently bouncing between first and second position on the Steam chart during their busiest period of the year, and I would guess it isn't doing too badly on the XB1 either. Anyone foretelling the game's doom are probably jumping the gun a bit. It might not be what I envisaged when I put my cash down all those months ago, but they already got my money so that's probably irrelevant.

If you look at all the feelings now on the forums about the console release and add the fact that there was nothing said about anything for Elite on PC it puts the writing on the wall. We kickstarted a console game and the future of Elite on PC can be clocked with an egg timer

It was said from the beginning that Elite would come to other platforms than PC.
