RES "fixed"

So it actually competitive?

Just been to a High-Intensity Res and made the mistake of taking on a wing (Python and Viper) with one shield ring and got clubbed down to 70% hull in short order. Destroyed them both for a very healthy pay-check mind you. I'm flying a Battle-Conda so it's relatively easy most of the time but the A.I. has definitely been beefed up. Adders with missiles lol. In any event, Res sites are getting there now - still like to see the AI get deadlier though.

So it actually competitive? Or is it back to the same old seal clubbing, fish in a barrel, easy mode it was before? Got no issue with people farming RES for millions but only if the most dangerous thing they face is not asteriods. 18 million in two hours sounds horrific though, if that is the case this is a massive backwards step.

I thought this too, but two things made me breathe a little easier, 1 is the new AI is actually pretty scary, and 2 hopefuly this kind of grind is limited to " high intensity " so your any killing you do is yours , and don't piggy back of the local police

I'm glad you Ace Space Plane Pilots are up for the challenge and feel the need for better AI. I for one want to find more medium and low intensity RES sites as my skills pale in comparison to yours. I humbly submit that there needs to be places for everyone to enjoy the game. We do not need everything cranked up so high that only 0.000000001% of 7 Billion people can actually compete against the AI with a chance to win.

low intensity res still has ships :p

No joke there. I lost more ships to asteroids than I ever did to pirates.

I agree the AI is getting better but its still brain dead... last night I had a ''fight" with a elite cobra it just flew in a line whiles dodging some of my shots

I agree with this 100%, I only had an issue with previous high spawn RES was the difficulty VRS the level of reward. For me if people are going to be pulling +3-4mil from a single instance then they need to be risking something. Which they previously werent. There does though also need to be options for pilots who want reduced difficulty, with of course reduced risk and reward.

Anyone who thinks that the previous version of high spawning RES was competitive vrs the level of gain is lying to themselves, they just enjoyed the easy money.

Fixed?
Still getting only small ships in high intensity res...

Same here. I've tried a number of different RES sites only to find smaller ships like asps, sidewinders, adders, vipers etc. Nothing like Python or Anaconda like I was getting last night before patch.

RES sites are empty for me. A bunch of 3 ships and thats it. It doesn't populate anymore than that. As anyone experienced this? Tried normal, low and High RES

Anyone know if it's been fixed in Conflict Zones as well?

Yes it has and nav points too.
I ran into several Elite ships at the CZ but the highest elsewhere was Master.

Conflict zones are MUCH tougher. All ships seem about 20 to 30% harder to kill than before. Sub-systems are much better protected, I'm often seeing hulls go down long before the targeted power plant and that never happened before.

I've been to a few high intensity RES, but although the ranks were pretty high, only the smaller ships spawned. Seems indeed a nice way to get the combat rank up, but the payout was somewhat short of what i'd hope for.
Going to try again tomorrow, and see if resetting instance improves ship spawn, as well as trying to figure out if the time you spend on the same instance does trigger different ship spawns.

All in all, good timing on the fix, I was about to jump on my ASP to head off exploring hoping to get back when bounty hunting was again worth my time.

RES fixed, hooray !
Bigger ships with lairy pilots. Limped into dock with no canopy and 5mins of air left.
Repair all for 80k Cr and relax.
Thanks for patch ED.

Note to self: in future take out the wingmen first, then go for the big money prize.

Really? I've been doing it the other way round - go for the big fellow in the middle then deal with the pesky little eagles. What do other people do?

High intensity RES are exactly that now with NPC ship ratings of Competent and upwards. Its good fun and really gives my FDL a workout, not to mention I moved up 6 pilot rating points today - I had moved about 1 point since 1.3 came out. I decided to pick on a 3 ship of Asp and 2 Vipers all Deadly/Dangerous rating - had to withdraw due to complete loss of shields on my FDL.

Actually this might be tough on newer players with less capable ships, as the fixed RES is a lot more challenging than pre 1.3 even. I had a 2 ship of Clippers both Deadly and that was fun, along with Dropships and Pythons - no Anacondas though.

Your opportunity to make good credits per hour is back, but its no pushover if you take on high rated wings of 3 :)

I saw Wings of 5 and 8

I got a Dangerous Python with 2 Expert Eagle wingmen in a High Intensity RES last night, took on one of the Eagles first but with my average combat skills and a less agile FDL by the time I got him I had the other Eagle and the Python on me blasting through my shields. It was a good scrap and I mistimed firing a SCB so by the time I dispatched all 3 I was at no shields and 74% hull. Repairs were 380k which was a bit of a choker as their joint bounties were about 250k. Good job there were plenty of other targets around. RES are definitely viable again for Rank and bounties, and the AIs have much better load outs now and definitely better pilots. Not up to PvP standards yet, as the AI is more predictable than humans, but much more fun and challenge than before.

You see, RES is not too easy :) Vulture is not overpowered ship here.

I was kicked but not destroyed by One deadly Imperial Courier and 2 dangerous Eagles in Wing.
One eagle destroyed, Imperial Courier and second Eagle kick's me.

And i'm Master Combat skill level at 50% filled rank scale.

Note: Thx for improved AI. :D

It may all be more "realistic" (with NPCs now actually putting up a fight), but it's a lot less fun. Taking on a wing, taking shield damage and then having to wait 10 minutes for them to restore (which is about what it takes my Python with an A6 shield & 3 boosters) is pretty boring. Paying millions to repair ships is unbalanced. It's now much more difficult to get NPC kills, their shields and hull seem much stronger, and they try to keep their distance as well. Ranking up in Combat is going to be much harder if it stays like this.

Congratulations FD, you've made something that used to be fun (farming a RES or a CZ) really tedious now. Way to go.
