Class 4 autocannon...I can dream, can't I?
It'll probably deal with the same damage to shields as a class 2ish pulse. Make it fixed only, and multicannons are pretty hard to hit against small ships anyway in excess of 1 km. I don't see OP.

Yeah, the Class 2, which is twice as massive.
Naval ships don't have something similar, IIRC.
They suck due to the limited ammo, I am back and forth to reload too often.

Personally, my idea of a size 3 multicannon is not necessarily more damaging (much higher dps, not significantly higher damage per shot), but more along the lines of increasing mag capacity and firing rate. Sort of less like a minigun's fire rate and more like those fast firing heavy machine guns they have on the A-10 Warthog.
Then you aren't using them for the correct situation. You wouldn't fly into a combat zone with Torpedoes and you won't use Frag Cannons on Eagles, doesn't mean they suck.
I'd run an all cannon loadout if it wasn't for the ammo limit.They suck due to the limited ammo, I am back and forth to reload too often.
