Doing stolen (heist) missions help.

Does anyone even do these?

If so I'd appreciate a bit of help with one I took on.

Steal 3 indium. Get 150k in return.

Great I thought...that was 24 hours ago. Took this one on the first in a long time as I had avoided them since beta up til now. The commodity is a common one and fairly ubitiquous on the market so thinking myself clever I went to the galaxy map found system where it's in high supply and to cover myself found where it was exported to also.

After several hours play not a sausage no indium in the countless ships I've scanned at nav points and USS even.

So any of you lot take on these missions? Got any tips please :)

My favorite way to beat this missions is to abandon them.

Until FD change it to "Get X amount of any of these, or a combination of these...", or "Steal X type of commodity (Ex technology, machinery, food, drugs, etc)" I won't be playing them. FD did say that the new missions system was just groundwork, and it is to be expanded upon in the future. :)

Ok I cracked it but whether it's just luck I can't say. Maybe try this yourselves if the pay is decent.

Fit wake scanner cargo scanner etc.sit outside a station that you sells the item. Scan all ships leaving. Find what you need and wake scan him follow to destination and do the deed.

It worked for me just now but it really was the last chance for this mission as ive found in earlier updates the info or even the ship didn't appear in the system over. It did this time perfectly.

Give it a go fellas. Thanks for the other tips though :)

Good job on working it out! Is this something that could have been obtained at a black market? No experience with that myself but curious.

No. Can't buy from black market I'm afraid. Well I used to avoid these missions but ill be taking more of them now as long as this general idea continues to work. The weak link is following them into the next system I won't count my success just now as a lucky shot and just hope the mechanic continues to work.

+1, this is quite clever and I'll be doing it once I get back into pirating.

Take a mission to deliver Indium, then abandon the mission. Your cargo is then marked as stolen.

This isn't even technically an exploit, you're taking a delivery and giving it to someone else. Man, all the devious people are in this thread huh?

Has this still been working for you?

I have tried this idea, so far (3 hours) nothing. I need combat stabilizers (stolen of course), so i found a high tech system that showed four trade routes exporting out of this system. 3 stations in the system, but only one did not have the combat stabilizers as prohibited, so i thought to myself "well i know what station people (NPCs) are buying these from and making there rounds" I even checked the commodities at that station, and there was a high supply. I was feeling real smart about my choice of location to sit and scan ships. every 5-10 min i had a new set of 2-3 ships, mainly haulers and adders, but the occasional cobra would dock. Even would sometimes see a type 7, although they just flew close, turned around and started jumping out. i scanned everyone, coming in and going, nice to see the hull would change, so they were selling and buying, just not the item i wanted.

Im going to a starport that has the item prohibited and does not sell the item. Ill let you know if somehow those sneaky people are purchasing them and flying out with them also.
