So, what are the exciting E3 announcements?

I can see what Frontier are doing. The game is not dead. Frontier have shown their new game, this is a 'low risk' game for Frontier, people will buy it and they have experiece making games like these. I think maybe they are in hot water financially but moving the game to different platforms is a good move. I just wish they would start fixing some of these silly bugs, and get the game running a bit smoother. The stuttering in hyperspace transitions is still terrible :S a minor issue, but a really irritating.

IMO, the stuttering is a huge issue, given how much we all jump, use SC and fly by objects in space. I for one would have greatly appreciated a fix for this BEFORE Mac, Xbox, PS4 or any other versions of the game, including PP.

I've been checking out the steam forums and reviews and it seems players are loving the game and digging in for hours and then finding a lack of content and quitting. A lot of people who have always been interested in the game aren't even buying it in the sale this time around. Sure some people are buying and sales have gone up but lack of content doesn't do fd any favours in the long run as word of mouth is the main way people buy games.

The consensus is that ED is a great game but there's nothing to do. PP doesn't help matters as it's still based on a woefully inadequate mission system. Cqc is also the same, great for short term to get people in to the game but nothing to keep existing customers. Unless fd's plan is purely numbers based to get front end sales and nothing more, if so they are actually doing a great job.

I think FD are losing sight of what could make a great game which is pretty much there in the ddf. I wish they'd stand up and announce that the next patch would be nothing but bug fixes, balance pass tweaks and work on the mission system. It's pointless building the house and bolting on anything else if the foundations are made of sand.

QFT

I would have liked to see all those types of things ironed out before even 1.1 was released.

The lag and stuttering is in the xbox version as well so it's something fundamentally wrong. Probably the p2p.
Perhaps, but it still happens in Solo, too.

I'm no programmer, but....well nothing, I can't diagnose the problem. What I can do is get a team of developers together and get them excited about building something extremely boring. That's why they pay the "big" bucks. :D

Been watching this for a little while now, we'll see how it goes after 1.3 though:

I wonder, when they have been showing off ED to the media at E3, does it stutter then? Or do they have some secret method of hiding it? Do the journalists not notice it? I can't recall ever having seen a comment about it in an online review that I've read. I sometimes wish the journalists would shout about it - maybe something would get done.

I think from what people have said with extremely high-end machines it pretty much disappears, but on a machine like mine, the SC stutter is pretty bad every single time I make the jump to witchspace.

No, I've been following the issue closely and it seems to me that it's the higher end machines that suffer the most. EDIT: A member the other day had a Titan X and still has stutter.

I noticed a marked improvement recently but haven't tried the new patch yet - will report back..

So apparently DBOBE was just on twitch and said a PC announcement was coming soon.

That's all I know.

He's trolling us.

EDIT: soon as in tonight/tomorrow or soon as in Soon(TM)?

There is a planned "ED on Xbox One" event for today/tomorrow...need to research details BRB. scratch that can't find source

Sorry, is it just me or does that website look absolutely terrible? I don't just mean subjectively poor design, but basically unreadable.

Fine on desktop. It's not optimized for tablets/phones.

Just did my usual run - station to station - no RES and stutter seems the same as when it improved for me - i.e. not like I was getting sometimes a few builds back - not exactly a scientific analysis but there you go.

Just visited a debris field too - lots of junk to bump into but nothing to actually do as far as I could see..

So are these E3 events available for replay anywhere? EDIT: nevermind found it.

I like the way it's tweeted as soon as it started. Thanks for the notice guys.

Actually, that would probably confirm the theory that DB was going to announce something yesterday and they pulled the plug right when he was about to do it.

GTX 560ti
2500k @ 4Ghz
4Gb Ram
Settings: Maximum (Ultra)
So my system is a few years old and not "high end" anymore.
No stuttering here, nearly constant 60fps, a few drops down to ~40 when i leave Frameshift in another system (loadingscreen). But other than that...no stuttering.
I have also noticed that mostly highend users complain in this forum...or those who play on a modified toaster.

Can you give me a link to that?
